In For Repairs

Yesterday I posted this photograph on my Facebook Virginia Jones Photography page.  Several readers asked about this room at the Louvre.  I took these in 2008 so I am not certain where it's located but it's an area visible to the public, so I was not trespassing!  I remembered correctly (quelle suprise) that there was also a way to look down from another floor and found the second photo that I share today as well.

Les voiles sur les statues apportent une atmosphère très particulière... Une sorte de cérémonial... J'AIME !

Yes, yes - we enjoyed seeing this space when at the Louvre four years ago. It was interesting to seeing work being performed on pieces. I need to revisit my pictures from the trip.

I've seen it but can't remember where in the Louvre it's located.

I love this part of the museum! If I remember right, it's just off the Cour Marly, on the ground floor. Have a bon weekend, V --

So, this is where pieces go for repair. For some reason I never really thought about the need for having a place like this in the Louvre.

Very interesting. :)

I hope you have a great weekend, V.

ZUT ALORS.... I remember that place too and I also have no idea WHEN I saw this and if it's still 'open to the public'
Sorry to be of no help!
Bonne fin de la semaine, chérie :)

Hi Virginia! If my memory serves me correctly, I think you can see into this room if you turn to your right instead of heading up the grand stairway to the Winged Victory of Samothrace. If I were there, I'd run over to the Louvre and check it out. Hope our paths cross again some day as we wander around Paris! - Clista

I also took pictures of this room! I thought it was nice that all these sculptures were not completely hidden from the visitors.

Oui, Madame! Imagine my surprise when I saw myself with you and Petter popping off the page while catching up on blogs a couple of months ago--when we met in the Cour due Commerce. It truly is a small world! Happy Holidays!

Virginia - No plans in place yet for 2013 but I know it won't be in January. Have fun and I'll be following along with you. I will get your attention when I plan my next trip! Hi to Mary, as well!
