Portes du Louvre

The Cour Carrée, one of the main courtyards at the Louvre, is often overlooked, as most visitors flock to the Pyramid. It's usually quieter and late one afternoon after walking all day, I wandered in, sat on a bench and just soaked in all the exquisite details at my leisure. I stayed until the sun set.

Louvre reflet

These four guys walked up at just the right time. I showed them the photo and gave them a thumbs up!

Today I join James' Weekend Reflections after a brief absence. I always love to see what the participants have to share with all of us. Click HERE to see them all!

Le flûtiste

Musée du Louvre

Street musicians in Paris are always a delight. I try to always stop and listen, and leave them something.

Le Louvre

from Tuileries.  The sun is such a tease in Paris. Just about the time you get your lens cap off.....
il a disparu.

Le réflexion

You must first understand the pure joy that Mary and I experienced when we looked up from lunch this Sunday and discovered the rain that was forecasted to last ALL DAY,  had lifted and the SUN was actually shining for the first time since we had arrived in Paris!!!! We paid the bill and headed out to photograph everything possible under the blue skies. After the Palais Royal, of course the Louvre. Here puddles provided my inspiration for James' Weekend Reflections!

In For Repairs

Yesterday I posted this photograph on my Facebook Virginia Jones Photography page.  Several readers asked about this room at the Louvre.  I took these in 2008 so I am not certain where it's located but it's an area visible to the public, so I was not trespassing!  I remembered correctly (quelle suprise) that there was also a way to look down from another floor and found the second photo that I share today as well.

Une Autre Vue

Le Louvre at night is magical.  I've been lucky enough to have had the chance to photograph it twice.  Today another angle.  ( There are NO bad angles of course.)

Grues sur le Louvre

Normally I would never take this shot, but my friend Wayne, Meandering in Lotusland (Vancouver), is a crane fanatic, so this lovely Sunday morning I took this just for him.  Of course we had no idea what the cranes were for, but Peter had a look and said there might be some major reno going on or an upcoming exhibit. Regardless, it is always nice to see what's being spiffed up around Paris!

Afternoon Sun , the Palais Royal

I took this photograph late one afternoon at the Palais Royal. You can glimpse Musée du Louvre at the end of the street. This was just a few days before I had to say au revoir to Paris last July. Il était trés difficile. Scenes like this remind me of all the things I love in Paris. You understand, don't you!
