The Abbey Bookshop

The Abbey is yet another lovely little bookshop in Paris with its wares spilling out onto the sidewalk. (But it  looks like someone needs to have their mouth washed out with soap! Tsk, tsk.)  Since 1989, it is another Parisian source for English language books from around the world.

Ha! I remember my Mom threatening my brother & I with that very same idea! I can't imagine what it was we said...
I love bookstores such as this. Great shot Virginia.

A veritable treasure chest Virginia, although most of the books will probably be in French, no matter, just looking and soaking up the atmosphere would be fine!

I would love to spend some time inside that store. I'm rather surprised it looks so unkempt on the outside though.

I love saying the name of this street as it just rolls off the tongue. I love this building and the books stacked high over the transom window.

Treasures in there. And outside.
Love the carved wall also.

I did not know that Abbey. Thank you Virginia. Lovely picture too, in spite of the graffitti. Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)

That's no way to talk about somebody's mother.

I love book stores; I love beautiful stone walls; I love balconies; and I love old doors. The color tones in this photo are just right. No matter the cluttered look.

Maybe not wash their mouths out with soap but certainly their pens!

It looks like treasure trove...too bad I don't read French. But I believe I'd still enjoy browsing here.

I blew this up to see the other "message"—this person needs to have their mouth washed out twice! Gave me a good laugh though. And the place looks (otherwise) absolutely charming.

It would be fun to pore over the books in search for treasure.

I wonder where that expression comes from: bad language being punished by having one's mouth washed out with soap. Did it ever actually occur?

Love the arches ... and the colours.
