La Neige est Magique !

The view from our apartment at 10:00 this morning

Daniel Buren columns have been under renovation for over a year. This morningthe red wooden walls that surrounded it had magically been taken down. See, told you I was blessed today!

The Pol Bury Fountain

Today we woke to a soft snowfall that was covering the city. Oui, the Photography Gods were smiling on me today! We struck out through the Palais Royal and I had a hard time not opting to spend the whole day there. After I had my fill of photos, we headed to the Bastille area to visit Merci. What a terrific store. I have many photos to share with you. My dear friend Shell Sherree has done a delightful watercolor and was the inspiration for our trip there. We proceeded to the Marais and visited the Place des Vosges first. ( See new header). A wonderful day of shopping, photographing and a few stops for beverages where we ended up at the Hotel de Ville to see the ice skaters and carrousel that is the delight of Parisian children and grownups as well. We stopped at the apartment for an aperitif and then on to the Opera Garnier area for a wonderful dinner and a dessert sampler that had us delirious! Another fun packed day.

Tomorrow church service at the American Catherdral and museums!!!

I apologize for the small photo format. New computer, new photo editing and French internet service. Cést dommage! I'm going to try and sweet talk Peter into solving this issue soon.

What a beauty that banner is!!! So glad we're getting to see snow in Paris through your lens!

Hope you're jotting down the name of the restaurants.

You crazy Yankees will do anything for a picture. It's 4C here, and I'm freezing.

I just love the photo with the little girl. I bet she's grinning ear to ear looking at the magical snow! And how lucky you are to be there in time for the reveal of the Burnen columns. They look great in the snow. And do share photos from your trip to Merci!

Looks good from here! This is the first time I've thought of the Buren columns as lovely. They were made for the snow, it seems (or your camera).

Delightful reportage, VJ. You should be employed by the French Tourist office.

Indeed the Gods be smiling ...

Virginia-

I'm baffled how you took the photos of The Pol Bury Fountain without a reflection of yourself! Was it a long lens that did the trick?

Nice! Wish I was in Paris with you gals. Looks like you're having a ball and making the best of the weather. It's snowing here, too. I may go out later today for a walk in metropolitan Ferney-Voltaire. LOL!

Oh, I'm so happy you visited Merci, Virginia ~ I'll look forward to hearing all about it when you're home again!! Also glad you scored the Buren columns freshly unveiled ~ they are quirky things that always make me want to eat humbugs. Hope you enjoyed the Dufy exhibit.

Lovely, lovely, lovely. The Bury fountain is one of my favorite things in Paris -- love the dusting on top. Just gorgeous.

Hah! You still define folk as Yankees and Southerners! Well, I'll be ... just friendly banter, I hope.

Do the famous sidewalk cafe's recoil this time of year? Ouch, it looks so cold... probably just because it's Paris (it's been three degrees F here today). Snow, ugh.
Glad to see the photography gods have indeed been smiling on you, though... enough to warm anyone's spirit, at least!
