L'carrousel

Christmas carrousel at the Hôtel de Ville is always a favorite for the children and photographers!

Fermé

Le carrousel at Luxembourg Gardens was closed on this beautiful, sunny day.  They probably only open on Wednesdays when the children are out of school and on the weekends. This grown up was very disappointed.

Petite fille

This sweet girl was preparing for a ride on the St. Paul carrousel in the Marais. I think it's a memorable photograph for me, besides the cuteness factor, because it was taken on the Sunday afternoon following the terrorist attacks the previous Friday evening. That Sunday, it seemed that all of Paris took to the streets and enjoyed the beautiful sunny day!

City Daily Photo Theme Day - Triangles

Our CDP theme for the month of April is TRIANGLES.  I simply would not hear of dragging out a shot of la Tour Eiffel, non, it must be more creative than that!  Well it was a bit of a challenge,
but I settled on the top of the sweet Dodo Manège carrousel at Jardin des Plantes!

Today my City Daily Photoblog friends around the world are posting their TRIANGLES. Click HERE to see them all.

Un coup de amin

One of the most charming and unusual carrousels in Paris, the Dodo Manège features extinct and endangered animals.  This petit enfant needed a little help from Papa.

Paris Rouge - Une autre mitaine rouge

Many of you correctly guessed that the carrousel in yesterday's post was taken at Jardins du Luxembourg.  Today we go back for another look.  Soon after I returned in January, I posted this little fellow and his red mitten here.  Not long after,  I spotted this sweet girl trying to capture the rings with her baton,  her red mitten flying in the wind.  Do you have any idea how many shots it took to caputure this moving target???

Òu sont les enfants???

As I walked around Tuileries this beautiful sunny morning last January,  I found these ponies waiting patiently for some delighted little riders.  I"m sure they didn't have a long wait.

 The carrousel stands still.

Le Carrousel - Tuileries

I do believe I've identified another Paris fetish.......carrousels!  This one taken on a very gray, drizzly day on a walk through Tuileries.  I photographed it here on my first trip in 2007.

C'est Magique !!

J'adore le carrousel à Hôtel de Ville!  I have so many. What a delicious find that night in Paris. Actually I shot in January 2010 as well, but it at dusk. This time night had fallen, and it was even more magical. I'll bore you to tears with these.

Un Dimanche au Dodo Manège

In June, Genie, Marie, Mary and I took a little detour to the Jardin des Plantes. Last summer, despite two trips to the gardens, Melissa and the children and I never found this special carrousel, but Genie knew the way! This one is a bit different, the animals are all extinct! We were charmed by the most adorable children enjoying a Sunday afternoon with their families. Moving targets are hard to capture, but I liked this beautiful little girl, sur la girafe!

Eva's Carrousel

Today a special look back to my very first trip to Paris in March of 2007. I went with my daughter Melissa and my Eva, who was 5 at the time. You've seen some photos of our trip together on previous posts here and here. Today I am sharing two special photos. These were taken at les Jardins des Tuileries on a cold and rather gray day. The gardens were almost deserted, which we've since realized, after our trip this past summer, was a delight we should have appreciated more! Eva rode the carrousel with just one other petite jeune fille. How many little girls have that delightful memory?

Not long ago I sent off a handful of photos that I thought my dear Shell Sherree in Brisbane might use for inspiration for her delightful watercolors. I was most flattered when she interpreted my photos here and here. Imagine my delight when I visited her blog for "Francophile Friday" ( that has moi written all over it!) and found our Eva waving from her "throne"! It made her Mommy and her Mumsie shed a tear or two. Merci beaucoup chère amie for bringing my photographs to life as only you can do!

Winter at the Hotel de Ville

Today I only left the apartment for a short while. Mary G and I were suffering from a stomach bug , so I don't have hot off the camera shots for you today. Instead, a look at the fun going on at the Hotel de Ville ( Paris City Hall). A large temporary skating rink has been installed and a gorgeous carrousel as well.

UPDATE: We decided to get out tonight and took a cab to la Tour Eiffel, and I got a few decent shots. I'm adding one for your viewing pleasure!
