Sunday Church Series - Le flamme

Église Saint-Germain-des-Prés considered the oldest or one of the oldest churches in Paris, should be on everyone's To See List when visiting Paris.

I have a very nice memory of this old church. A few years ago my wife and I decided that since we could see Notre Dame from our window we should perhaps go see the midnight Christmas mass. We left our apartment at 11:30 hoping to get a good seat only to find thousands of people gathered outside the already full cathedral. We walked to St Germain des Pres and enjoyed the midnight mass there. The music was beautiful and remains one of the highlights of my many days spent in Paris.

Have you read "Into a Paris Quartier" by Diane Johnson. It focuses on the Saint Germain quartier. Great photo.

Hurrah! Hurrah! Hurrah! This is outstanding, Virginia. So sensitive.

I am a Left Bank guy and have passed by many times. I think I only went inside briefly once. Looks like I need to correct this next time.
