Beautiful picture, Virginia. You have somehow managed to make a cold, wet Parisian day look good. Les enfants sont à l'école, peut-être? Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)
I am sure they bundled up and came out to ride a little later! I love the way the caroussel is just at the edge, a little pop of color in the winter landscape.
On ressent bien le froid, peut-être qu'il vient de tomber de la neige fondue...les enfants ont déserté le manège et sont partis boir un chocolat chaud ? Très belle photo Virginia. Danielle
Danielle, one very chilly day in March, my granddaughter enjoyed un chocolat chaud while her mom and I enjoyed une verre de vin blanc at a cafe near here in these gardens after she rode this carrousel. :)
Leif, I don't remember if this was mercredi or not.
Your photograph is wonderful and yes, too wet for the little darlings and their chic chaussures, I love the carousels in France, seeing the happy children with smiles on their faces.
I am a former elementary school teacher, a full-time photographer, lover of all things French ( whose French is slowly improving), obsessive Paris traveler, enthusiastic church and community volunteer, and grandmother to 5 delightful grandchildren.
I fell in love with Paris in March 2007. It was as the French say, le coup de foudre : love at first sight. As a result of that trip, my photography took another direction. Since that time I have pursued a career of sorts in photography and dreamed of returning to the City of Light. November 2008 found me strolling the streets of Paris once again. My first visit I was so overwhelmed with the incredible beauty of the city, I photographed it as a "tourist". In 2008 I returned and I looked at the city with more of a photographer's eye. I wanted to capture the unique, the small details, and oh yes - the people! This blog was started as a photo diary of that trip, but I have been most fortunate to return to the city j'adore 15 times since. Each time I leave, I wipe a tear and start planning my list for the next trip. Paris may well be a moveable feast, but I think it's best savored in person! Someone told me that once you have been to Paris, you will leave a piece of your heart. I left mine right there, but I brought home some wonderful memories. It is my pleasure to share them with you.

I LOVE this winter mood!Hum, sounds so refreshing..
I hope the ponies are enjoying the chance to take a breather. Probably a fairly rare occasion. Gorgeous as always, V.
I hope the children are at home, cozy and warm! Nice stark shot, V.
It does look fabulous (to me) no matter the weather or season, this little party-cake of a carrousel. Bien-vu, mon amie.

I guess les enfants sont 'a l'ecole, non? Did you ride the carrousel, V de B?
Not easy for the children to be out in that kind of weather.
One more beautiful scene from Paris Virginia.

I must get myself out to Brooklyn Bridge Park to snap some shots of the newly restore carousel there .. this is a lovely photo ..
It still looks very inviting to me Virginia, gorgeous winter shot.
I love this photo! It is artistic, graphically pleasing and beautiful. Despite the weather conditions :)
Great photograph...I strangely, want to be there...you're a master at capturing an image!

Love the splash of color on the carousel. At first I though this was a recent picture, and freaked out that all the leaves were gone already! Oops! :)

Judging from all the water on the ground, their mothers had the good sense to keep them home.
I was there once with a group of girlfriends and we were the only adults riding...Those pics were our favorites!
I will actually be there on Thursday!
I agree—les petits sont à l'école. Or maybe their mamans wouldn't let them get their chic little Parisian shoes all muddy.
Hi Virginia,
Your photograph is wonderful and yes, too wet for the little darlings and their chic chaussures,
I love the carousels in France, seeing the happy children with smiles on their faces.
Have a happy week
Hugs

There is GREAT beauty in this silence....
This space even looks magnificent in the rain.
Love the light reflections from the puddle of water. And having the carrousel in the shot makes it perfect.
