Two years ago today, I was standing on a bridge in Paris with mon ami Peter watching la Tour Eiffel explode with this most glorious fireworks display. I've shared many images of that evening, but today the one that graces the back cover of Paris Rouge Through My Lens. A treasured memory of what I think must be the most wonderful evening I've spent in Paris.
We have another raison de célebrer, our dear Genie at Paris and Beyond is celebrating her first blog birthday this very day. I'm proud that I was present at the birthing last 14 juillet, and she and I have had such great fun blogging together this year. I think she's done a terrific job!! Joyeux anniversaire chère Genie!

Well, if the proof is needed that we were together on that bridge that night, you may go to my post today! :-)

J'adore cette photo. And Vive la France, from an italian guy :D
Love this moment frozen in time with the pink reflections on the Seine - wow!
Merci encore for the help in getting my blog started... what fun we have had sharing our passion for photography and Paris! Merci, ma chère amie.

Am enjoying listening to Francoise Hardy and looking at the fireworks Virginia, happy Bastille Day to you!
Virginia, this photo is gorgeous!!! Love, love, love the reflection of the fireworks on the Seine! It is so alive! I also love the flag in you header. Happy Bastille Day!
What a spectacular image! I can just see the joy and fun it would have been to be in that moment.
Vive la France!
Leave it to Peter to find the best spot to watch the fireworks -- as evidenced by this wonderful photo.
Doesn't time pass like the blink of an eye....that was the summer that I was hoping to meet you in Paris but then Richard had to have back surgery.
Oh no your link for Paris and Beyond does not work.
Well Genie had the good idea of leaving a message...
What an explosive night! Great colored reflection over the Seine of the fireworks - Bravo, V!
Perfection!
We are probably going to meet some friends on the Esplanade des Invalides and then, hopefully, walk over to the Champ de Mars for the fireworks. Benabar, one of my favorite French singers is doing a concert at la Tour Eiffel tonight.
Yes, Virginia, you have everything in your post today. A nicely captured fireworks. (I really do need to learn how to do that.) Friend Peter and friendette Genie. Bastille Day and the first anniversary of Genie's blog. Whew! You worked hard today, Virginia. Go have a glass of wine.
That is beautiful ...
A great day all around—and for multiple reasons! Your photo is amazing, and your sentiment heartfelt, V. Thanks for sharing both!
Oh mes amis, we have all enjoyed this day haven't we! Most of us from afar, but feeling a part of the fabulous celebration in Paris. Peter, thank you again for making it possible for me to experience quatorze juillet at the most perfect spot in Paris just once in my life. May we all be fortunate to experience it in Paris again.
Bises,
V
Marvelous, Virginia!! I so enjoy both your blog and Genie's. Thanks for your great efforts regarding both. 'Love this photo. That evening sounds glorious. By the way, I also love your Opera Garnier photo from a couple of days ago. Interestingly enough, I spent the best part of my one time 14 juillet in Paris at the Opera!
Wonderful shot Virginia!!! And Happy Birthday to Genie!!!
