Paris, le ville des lumières de Noël !

Today, not one but two lovely examples of how Paris dresses herself for the Christmas season. Everywhere, neighborhoods have the most wonderful lights strung across the streets.  J'adore!

French Christmases are so much more stylish. Strasbourg's a classic case - go 20km into Germany and you've got Christmas markets selling evil Glühwein and fake leather wallets and back in France it's all low key and elegant

I have to completely disagree with jb on that one! We went to three Christmas Markets. One in Basel, Switzerland, one in Colmar, France, and one in Freiburg, Germany, and the German one was the best. All of them sold gluehwein as well. I haven't been to Paris at Christmas yet. Maybe someday...

Ahhh, nothing like Paris at Christmas-time

J'adore les lumieres! The top ones look like chandeliers -- gorgeous! I also love your header shot! Joyeaux Noel!

Oh V! Ça me plaît parce qu'en Australie il n'y pas beaucoup des lumières pour Noel. Vraiment extra!

J'adore aussi!
This is the most spectacular x-mas decoration ever.

Let's see if some of the Christmas lights are still there when you arrive! (You may have to renew your stock?) :-)

jb,
Well then come on down to Paris in Jan. and see these for yourself!

Peter,
Oui, the stock needs renewing but I have enough to keep me going for a while. I think I'll prepost photos this trip and not drive myself crazy trying to download and edit photos every night for the blog! I'll probably add some comments each day if the internet/computer cooperates. That will leave more time for sipping and seeing! :)

Genie, the top one was right off rue de RIvoli, the bottom one I"m not so sure. It was taken Jan. '10. I see Mary's head! HA

Les Reves,
I don't think any country puts on the glitz like Paris does!

M,
Merci mon amie!
xx
V

I love those chandeliers! I love when cities dress up for the holidays. Los Angeles has similar lights over the streets downtown, but Paris is much (MUCH) prettier.

We do it up pretty well here in NYC—but I still say we can't hold a candle (or a chandelier!) to Paris. Thanks, V!

So pretty. Are you heading back over the holidays?

HI Virgina, I loved the lights at the top. I took many snaps myself of those gorgeous lamps. Hope you enjoy Christmas. Carla

Oui, oui that's my head - the first shot is on Rue Saint-Honore and the second is either on Rue Royale or Rue Castiglione...if memory serves.
