A Trip Back to Saint Chapelle

Today, Easter Sunday, I thought I would share another photograph of one of the most beautiful churches in Paris, Saint Chapelle. The day we visited it was gray and overcast, yet just look at these beautiful stained glass windows. If you've never had the pleasure of visiting this special place, these amazing windows cover three of the walls. It is a MUST SEE in Paris. I hope to one day see it again on a gloriously sunny day.

I'll never forget the first time that I stepped into that upper chapel - I was 17 and Paris was the last city of a 30-day tour...as an aside, the next day the men landed on the moon!

Happy Easter to U2, VJ!

I pray one day Easter Macarons replace easter eggs.

You neglected to mention the narrow stairway one must climb to see these windows.

Simply breathtaking, Virginia.

Also, just wanted to say thank you for the compliment that you liked my name. (FYI - I'm an artist with a brand new card line that stars some very stylish fashionistas, so I thought the name fit! BTW, the line debuts on my site with the first handful of cards on April 21 and new card designs will be added regularly. In fact, I get my inspiration for my card details from everywhere, perhaps little details will appear that I've seen in some of your photos! If anyone's interested, please join Ooh La Frou Frou's facebook page before April 21 so you won't miss the grand debut ... the fans will always be the first to see each new card as soon as it's created! Merci!

Beautiful Virginia... I still recall the first time I visited the Sainte Chapelle, at the age of ten... a trip which probably played an important role in conditioning my return to France years later...

PS This afternoon, Sunday, I had the good fortune to meet up with Peter, Nathalie, and la Framericaine in Paris, to see a photo exhibit... a good time was had by all, and your name came up as we were talking about blogs and blogging...

Owen,
Thank you, it is just the most special place isn't it!
And meeting with Peter and Nathalie whom I know, how delightful. I'm very envious I couldn't have been there to join you all for the exhibit. Maybe my next visit we can meet?

Sandy I will have to check it out!

Around the World,
Thank you very much!

Starman,
It is WORTH THE CLIMB! :)

CP,
Oh why haven't I thought of that ! Macarons beat hard boiled eggs any day.

Mary,
That was all before my time! :)

Shell,
You said it perfectly as always.

Oh Virginia - this is the most magnificent photo! I've not been there but you make me feel like I've had a personal tour. Merci!

Beautiful in any kind of light—and beautifully captured by you! My favorite way to see this place is in summer —when the light lasts until 10 or 11 at night and they have concerts here in the evening (I've caught Vivaldi's Four Seasons here twice).

Sainte Chapelle is truly a gothic masterpiece. As you know it was conceived to shelter religious relics and not as a place of worship, and it is not a church. It is part of the French national monuments, just like castles. I never heard of a service being held there as it is mostly a museum where more than 800,000 tourists from over 40 countries visit it every year, and it was worth it, wasn’t it?

Wow! I'm amazed that Saint Chapelle is not a church, but more of a museum...and has those exquisite windows...

Vagabonde,
Well thank you for that interesting information. I surely didn't know but probably should have!.

I can't imagine how lovely it would be to hear a choir or hear a concert while in that wonderful place. Maybe one day I'll get that lucky.

Gorgeous! I hope you're setting this aside as one of your very best.

The advantage with the cloudy day is that all sides have the same light! A sunny day, you have the feeling to see just one of the three! ... So maybe you were lucky? :-)

Kevin,
I'm so flattered that you considered it so. I was leary of the overexposed upper windows. I worry so!

Peter,
Well thanks for sharing that . Maybe I'll just be satisfied that I got to experience this beautiful place, regardless of the light. Perhaps I look at the world TOO much like a photographer now. Remind me to stop, take a deep breath and just enjoy!!!
