Non Madame!

This funky little shop in Montmartre intrigued me. The floor was a colorful mosaic and the walls were embellished with euros and all sorts of delights. Of course the camera had to come out. Shortly after these photos were taken the owner scolded me. I guess that N O on the wall is for NO Photos! Pardon Monsieur, but I got all the shots I wanted!

I had a nice surprise yesterday. Fellow blogger Anne In Oxfordshire, kindly featured one of my photos and had some very nice words about my blog. Merci dear Anne!

I have some very nice words about your blog, too, Virginia. :) And as we all know, it's usually better to ask forgiveness than permission. HA!

Looks like a shop with a lot of stories ... like delving into someone's attic! If the shop owner only knew who was taking his picture, and that it would appear on a fabulous blog, I'm just sure he would have posed!

Ginnie,
Oh I'm all about the forgiveness as opposed to permission thing! :)

Sandy, I think I mumbled something about a blog and free publicity! HA

Ooh this looks like just my kind of shop, especially because of the mosaic! Do you remember where exactly this is? Good for you for snapping a few photos before being told NO.

I do not understand why shop owners get so pissy about photos ... love the mosaic and the clutter .. so artsy

my sister and I made the huge mistake at Abbesses metro stop of thinking...an elevator? who needs to wait for an elevator in the subway...we'll take the stairs"...a thousand steps later and we just about died...and that same day I had climbed to the top of the Arch de Triomphe....talk about a thigh master class...

Debbie,
I hear you! My dear blog companions talked me into not only climbing the steps in the metro, but also to the dome of the Sacre Coeur! Peer pressure you know. I still marvel that someone didn't have to carry me up!

I've always wondered why some shops won't allow picture taking. I was taking pictures in a game shop once and the clerk asked me to stop. It doesn't really make sense to me. What do they think will happen if you take a picture? Does anyone have the answer?

Starman and Daryl,
I don't know either. I think some places are afraid customers are photographing so they can copy the items. I find that if I ask first it's usually easier. I didn't this time cause I couldn't see how they would care. Well they did. C'est la vie.

What a warm glow the lamps and wall colour create ~ very cosy. Sorry to hear the owner wasn't so cosy. :)

This shot was definitely worth getting scolded for! I'm shy about asking sometimes (especially when I think the answer will be no), so my camera is always set not to flash and I've turned off all the sounds. This helps when you're being sneaky—but I do miss the satisfying click of the shutter.

Hi Virginia, It was my pleasure. Thank you for allowing me to use your photo. One good turn deserves another, and you have a wonderful blog that I think lots of my friends will love. As well as Peter and Laurent's blogs.
