Raspberry Beret

Technically, this jeune fille is not wearing a beret but the minute I saw her I started humming Prince's Raspberry Beret!

Le carrousel

This sweet little carrousel at Luxembourg Gardens delights the children as they try to catch the rings with their little batons.

Jolie petite fille

I spotted this adorable little girl at Luxembourg Gardens and as luck would have it, I photographed here more than once that day. She was having a lovely time with Papa and as they left the gardens I got one more chance.

La petite fille et son bâton

Each child who rides the small carrousel at Luxembourg Gardens is given a small baton. As they pass the gentlemen on the right, they try and slide their baton into another metal ring. As you can see, he kindly helps a bit.

Le petit garçon et son bâton

Sunday at Luxembourg Gardens. I think I should just arrive early in the morning and stay ALL day. There are so many things to see and photograph.

Garçon et le bateau

I wonder how long Parisian children have sailed their boats at the gardens in Paris.

Dimanche

Jardin du Luxembourg is the place to be on a Sunday in Paris.  This petite fille was enjoying the afternoon on her bike.

Les petits matelots

Even on chilly fall days, the sailors are out with their bâtons at Luxembourg Gardens.

Les joueurs d'echecs

This Sunday afternoon at Luxembourg Gardens, this jeune fille was holding her own in chess.  I talked with her  mother and father and found out she was 8 years old and her dad,  a chess instructor.  He seemed pleased with how she was doing with a much older opponent.

Joie de Vivre II

Caution. I've been devouring David duChemin's marvelous book, Within The Frame, The Journey of Photographic Vision, and am feeling empowered to post this photo that I would honestly have deleted. For those of you who love travel photography, run, don't walk to Amazon.com and buy it.

Un souvenir spéciale

Riding the ponies at Luxembourg Gardens was a very special time for my Eva and Davis.  The "pony man" was very kind.

Paris Rouge - Une autre mitaine rouge

Many of you correctly guessed that the carrousel in yesterday's post was taken at Jardins du Luxembourg.  Today we go back for another look.  Soon after I returned in January, I posted this little fellow and his red mitten here.  Not long after,  I spotted this sweet girl trying to capture the rings with her baton,  her red mitten flying in the wind.  Do you have any idea how many shots it took to caputure this moving target???

Sea Bird

The fountains in the gardens of Paris are usually full of brightly colored sailboats, pushed to sea by children with their sticks I've shown here.  In January,  no sailboats were to be found at the Jardin du Luxembourg this chilly but sunny Sunday afternoon.  A few children brought their own remote operated speed boats however.  This petite jeune fille was in control and the others watched intently!

Paris Rouge LXXIX - Une mitaine rouge

Playing in the white powdery dirt in Paris seems to have universal appeal for children.  My Eva and Davis did a lot of it when we visited in 2009.  I captured this petit garçon with the obligatory stick at the Luxembourg Gardens last week.   And would you look... a  ROUGE mitten!
