I have been photographing the chess players in Luxembourg Gardens for years. For the most part, it's the same men, deep in thought, no nonsense. Not this day!

Every single hour spent at the Jardin du Luxembourg brings so many images. I often wish I could just spend a few days just there, doing nothing but wandering, sitting and finding images.

This Sunday afternoon at Luxembourg Gardens, this jeune fille was holding her own in chess.  I talked with her  mother and father and found out she was 8 years old and her dad,  a chess instructor.  He seemed pleased with how she was doing with a much older opponent.

Back in June I featured the pétanque players at Luxembourg Gardens. Well on my return to Paris in July, I was lucky enough to meet the chess players there as well. It is serious business , so I tried to be really quiet ( oh I hear your snickers) so as not to be shooed away! Today is the first of a two day series. Remember...... ssshhhhh!
