City Daily Photo Theme Day - GIFT
Today my City Daily Photoblog friends around the world are posting this month's theme, GIFT. For me, the gift of friendship is the perfect choice. I met Peter Olson, Peter's Paris, through blog friends before my second trip to Paris in November, 2008. He graciously shared his knowledge of Paris and a few bottles of champagne that trip and has continued to offer an incredible amount of time for me and my friends every single trip since. I dubbed him the MOST PATIENT MAN IN PARIS, years ago and he's held the title ever since. He is always willing to do whatever is on my "program" as he calls it, no matter how many times he's visited that place. He kindly stops and waits while I take an endless number of photos or just need a little rest for my back. We have shared many wonderful Paris memories, laughs and more glasses of champagne than we can remember. After every trip, I always remind him that he is indeed my best friend in Paris. Merci Peter, pour le cadeau de ton amitié.

Le monde est petit
Last January, the day after we arrived, Peter, Mary and I were strolling down the little pedestrian street by Procope. I noticed two ladies nearby snapping photos as well, and I thought I had stepped into one of their photos, so I turned to apologize. On of them put her hand on my arm and explained that she and her friend had seen us twice already that day...in the Metro and at the Sempé exhibit! She went on to say that she had recognized me from my blog that she read frequently, so she knew I was in Paris. Then she said, "And that's Peter isn't it! I recognized him from his blog!" What are the chances that would meet Clista, all the way from Texas, in Paris for heaven's sake! We had a nice visit and then Mary asked where they were headed the next day and they said the pet cemetery. Well we were too and as we crossed the street to the cemetery the next day, who do you think we saw??? What could be more fun than to meet a blog friend in Paris... twice. Le monde est petit!

New Kid on the Blog
BFF
( Blog Friends Forever)
One of the joys of blogging for me, has been the many, many, dear friends I've made along the way. About two months ago I received an email from Genie, a blog follower ( and certifiable Francophile) from Mobile, AL. We arranged a meeting here in Birmingham at my home and talked nonstop about Paris etc. for 6 hours! ( Twins separated at birth is an understatement). Mid June found us together again, this time in the city we adore, Paris. We had a BALL trying to photograph everything we possibly could!
This past Tuesday, Genie drove up from Mobile and stayed with me overnight. We put our heads together and wrestled ... (fought tooth and nail) with Blogger, most of the afternoon and evening. Wednesday morning we awoke and in our nightgowns........ and after about 12 hours of hard labor..........Genie birthed her new photoblog........Paris and Beyond! As the "midwife" I can tell you that Blogger's new and "improved?" templates made it impossible to use an old classic template but we went to Plan B. I think her new blog is just parfait! It's colorful and full of fun.... just like Genie. I hope you will all visit often and leave her some of your encouraging comments!

Mad About Paris
Joyeux anniversaire mon amie Mary. She and I have been friends since we met on Virtual Tourist ( she was Mad About Paris and I was Paris Mumsie!) three years ago. We share a love of Paris and all things French and so much more. So far we've been together in Paris twice and we're planning another in the very near future. This photo was taken from the apartment window last summer. Mary was looking for a rainbow over the Val de Grace. Here's to many more rainbows in Paris mon chère amie!

Les Macarons de Californie
Today we leave Paris for just one day. We'll travel west from Paris to Brentwood, California. Last week while staying with my dear blog reader Judy, she thought of every single thing I might like to drink or eat. We paid a visit to Europane in Pasadena for a nice selection of macarons. I'll bet you're wondering if they were up to "Paris standards"...........OUI! They were delicieux. I had several, and I highly recommend them. I took this "food shot" poolside on Judy's gorgeous deck overlooking a canyon. Tellement la Californie!

Au Revoir for Now
Today marks the end of my photos from my November, 2008 trip. Thank you all for stopping by and leaving your nice comments. Paris Through My Lens will remain here with no new updates until the end of May. At that time I will be returning to France and will begin posting on a frequent, if not a daily basis! Feel free to look around and enjoy Paris. Leave comments if you like, as I will be reading them daily. For today, a potpourri of my last photos!
