The P Is For Poilâne

Being granted permission to photograph the baking of the trademark Poilâne sourdough loaves was a very special occasion. We were allowed down in the cav where the first round loaves were baked in 1932. This is their flagship store on rue Cherche-Midi. I"ve been lucky enough to stay just a few doors down on two trips to Paris. All the round loaves bear the signature P for Poilâne!

Soon, very soon.....

This time next week, I will be staying just a few doors from Poilâne's flagship boulangerie on rue duCherche-Midi! I could get into some serious trouble!

P is for Poilane

Take a walk down rue du Cherche-Midi and you will find Poilane bakery's flagship store. Several years ago we stayed in a lovely apartment, just a few doors down. Yes, we bought bread, and I was fortunate to be able to take some photos.

One benefit of renting an apartment on rue du Cherche - Midi was that Poilâne's flagship boulangerie was just a few doors down the street. I wrote ahead requesting permission to photograph and quel surprise, they granted me a short appointment. Down the winding steps to the ovens that have been baking their famous round sourdough loaves with the signature P since 1932. Of course we took home a loaf and enjoyed the hearty break with beurre et fromage every night! Merci to the friendly employees who allowed us to have a look around and take some photographs. A Paris experience I won't forget.

P is for Polâine

Stop by 8 rue du Cherche-Midi and you will find Poilâne's charming flagship boulangerie. Dupuis 1932,  they still bake bread here and at their other locations like they always have. In November, 2013, we stayed in a lovely apartment just doors from this very special Paris boulangerie. Of course we bought several of these wonderful loaves and enjoyed with wine and cheese, many nights.
