Le monde est petit

Last January, the day after we arrived, Peter, Mary and I were strolling down the little pedestrian street by Procope.  I noticed two ladies nearby snapping photos as well,  and I thought I had stepped into one of their photos, so I turned to apologize.  On of them put her  hand on my arm and explained that she and her friend had seen us twice already that day...in the Metro and at the Sempé exhibit!  She went on to say that she had recognized me from my blog that she read frequently, so she knew I was in Paris.   Then she said, "And that's Peter isn't it! I recognized him from his blog!"  What are the chances that would meet Clista, all the way from Texas, in Paris for heaven's sake!  We had a nice visit and then Mary asked where they were headed the next day and they said the pet cemetery. Well we were too and as we crossed the street to the cemetery the next day, who do you think we saw???  What could be more fun than to meet a blog friend in Paris... twice.   Le monde est petit!

Le monde est petit indeed, V. I can't believe your story. This is really cool, actually. Thankful for this great photo of you three. Always fun to "see" my blogger friends in person. :-) Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)

A french quote says" Les grands esprits se rencontrent" (High spirits always meet)...:o)

@Malyss

The English saying for "les grands esprits se rencontrent" is "Great minds think alike". It is also much less ambiguous than the French expression, it is not about physical meeting! lol :)

Great blog by the way, it was a joy to stroll back throught the past entries.

and then add to that the happenstance of 'once you meet someone you keep running into them over and over' ... it happened to us in Santa Fe .. a couple we met while breakfasting crossed paths with us several more times that day ..in Paris its kismet ... in Santa Fe its the vortex

It's a cool story Virginia and like you said, yhe odds of meeting someone from Texas who already 'knows' in Paris ate next to nothing...

I just love that the world IS small, and blogging brings us all together! After all, we are all interested in similar places, people, things so it's only natural we should meet up!

Fun! How wonderful to be connected by common passions, in spite of geographical distances between homes! YOU are célèbre & it's well deserved.

No such thing as coincidence - you were meant to meet - maybe? Great story and happy memories. Fx

OMD (comme on dit en français)! I've found that NYC is actually a small town—and apparently the same can be said of our beloved Paris. Here's to all our wonderful blog pals, wherever we manage to encounter them!

OMG! What a surprise to catch up on your blog this morning, Virginia, and then see myself smiling back at me. So good to "see" you and Peter again. And thanks to Mary for the great photo. Mon amie, Suz, was the one who kept saying, "You must say hello to them--they would be thrilled to know you follow their blogs." So glad we did. See you next trip??
