These days Paris waiters don't leave a small handwritten tab on your table, although I'd love to find some that still do. Sadly, now it's a computerized ticket they've printed out. Here at Le Petit Marcel, it seems our handsome waiter, with the red suspenders, was actually logging it all in on a computer! Quel dommage.

Excellent shot Virginia. I must be the only person in the world who adores French waiters ;-) Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)
I love his red suspenders! Paris Rouge!!
What I like are the special furniture one can find BEHIND the comptoir in old brasseries. They're always very unic and beautyful. (You must write QUEL dommage, only one L-masculine word Ü)
Is nothing sacred? Handwriting might be fading from everyday use but I'll fight the good fight to keep it alive wherever I can. :) The handsome waiter's suspenders are rather dashing.
Quel dommage, bien sûr! But one thing has not changed....those HANDSOME FRENCH WAITERS!!!!!!!!! Anita
I bet you gave 'im a big tip for 'is service, non, V de B!
A big tip for the handsome guy !
Maybe in an old fashioned mere et pere restaurant?
I get stressed just watching these guys run around. Better them than me! Nice capture.
Love the red suspenders! Alas, I think you will need to venture out into the small towns to find handwritten additions!
Love this shot of the cute waiter with his Paris rouge accents!
French Girl -- you are not alone. I love French waiters too—and so does Virginia, I believe. Great shot, V—et j'adore ses belles bretelles rouges!
Ah that's progress for you Virginia, no time for hand written chits. He's still a handsome young waiter though!
It may be computerized, but the restaurant looks like it is architecturally beautiful!
"L'addition, s'il vous plait" - the first French phrase that my husband agreed to learn. I was all too willing to teach him this one!
Le cow-boy du comptoir.
Veronique, I love the waiters as well....especially the ones as handsome as this one avec rouge suspenders.

Alain, I learned a new one from your today! :)
Harriet, I hope he paid l'addition ! :)
This was a charming small brasserie. Loved the brass railings, mirrors, and tile floor.
The last time I visited Chartier (7 rue du Faubourg Montmartre), the bill was still being totaled on the paper table cloth...
Hello Virginia,
I'm catching up on blog posts today and am getting my Paris "fix". I love your beautiful, natural images of Parisian life. Perhaps you, Genie and I can meet in Paris with our cameras one day?
My post this week was of some of YANN ARTHUS-BERTRAND's photos, but I have just noticed him on your blog. What now?
Un bon weekend.
