Carrousel Une Vue

I love this view from the delightful carrousel just across the Seine from la tour Eiffel.  I hear that the city of Paris is making the owner move. I can't verify that but maybe some of my French readers will let us know if this very special carrousel is still there.  My Eva and Davis enjoyed their rides here so much.

I loved seeing several of these carousels in cities where we traveled in France this past July, Virginia. I have never seen so many in one week before! One could easily do a series of carousels in France...maybe even in Paris?

Why make them move it? Is it just me, or has our world become so engrossed in taking the childhood away from the child? Nobody wants to spend money on education, or on keeping childhood things intact these days? Why do we want kids to grow up so fast, and miss out on childhood joys? Are adults that shallow?

I live about 10 minutes from that carousel, and it was there last week at least. :-) It's another similar carousel closer to the Eiffel Tower too, I'm sure you have noticed. Those two are not placed that close to any private homes, so I don't see how they could bother someone... I agree with you, they are delightful and charming! But, for the plainer, but much noisier carousel in Le Parc du Champ-de-Mars, that's another story... It plays the same annoying tune non-stop during hot summerdays, and it became an annoying soundtrack to my lunch-breaks, I feel bad for the people living close to that sound.
Nice photo, by the way! :-) When will you be returning to Paris?

Ooohh -- fantastic photo angle! I love old carousels and this one is beautiful. Le Tour Eiffel peeking out is perfect. Did you notice the painting of Notre Dame? I am ready to go for a spin in that lovely horse-drawn carriage.

Virginia, great shot of two of my favorites: Un carrousel et la Tour Eiffel!

Great colors in this and thanks, M, for pointing out the painting of Notre Dame. There are many, many carousels in Paris and I want to see ALL of them... (another reason I keep going back)

Thank you all. I seem to recall that the owner was "losing his lease" because of some rent/tax issues. It may be the one across the street from la Tour rather than this one however.

Nina F,
I hope this winter but I'm not sure.

What a delightful way to begin my day with this photo! Love the colors and the view of the Eiffel Tower. And thanks to Claudine for the correction of 'un' to 'une'...I was going to email you about that.

I love this manége and the identical one at the base of the Sacre Coeur. Thanks for sharing a sunny photo on a rainy day in Paris.

OUI Virginia, ce manège est installé là depuis très longtemps ( mes enfants ont 20 ans ) et je les emmenaient à ce manège quand ils étaient tous jeunes !
Belle photo !

I recently read that the carousel had lost its lease. I think it was in Journal des Enfants. It mentioned an incredible amount of money it brought in, but now I can't remember the amount. It was 50,000 euros per _____. How I wish I could find the newspaper to verify my incomplete recollection.
If anyone knows, please let me know.

cjr,
Yes, that's what I read but don't remember where. Maybe we'll find out together. Thanks for your comment. Come by often!
