It has taken me a while, but I'm learning to push doors in Paris. Sometimes those big double doors aren't locked and you can slip right in and have a little look around. Other times, if you're lucky, you can step right in behind a resident or even the postman. I haven't been quite that bold yet, but this day I waited outside after someone went in, and put my hand on the door to keep it from latching. Then, after a few minutes I wandered in and voilà! Unfortunately this gate was locked, but I enjoyed this cool, shady courtyard garden for a few minutes, then hurried on my way!
FROM SNAPSHOTS TO PHOTOGRAPHS
My next series of five two hour classes will be starting again soon. For those in the Birmingham AL area, contact me for more details. These classes are designed for the amateur photographer who wants to improve their vacation and family photos!
DISCOVERING THE MAGIC
For the more experienced photographers out there, I have a new class starting in September that will focus on creative ways to photograph our city!

courtyard,I would love to live there.
Greetings from Finland
Hehe, I've done that too before! It's totally worth it...stealing those few seconds of hidden beauty.
Wow, you're even naughtier than I thought, Virginia. :) I need to take a leaf from your book. {You'll be my 'one phone call' if I'm caught.}
Virginia, lovely shot and one you would not have if you had held back.
Between my stalking techniques and your brazen door tricks we can make a mischievous team. Let's go!
Neat .. its like in VA when we would pull into a driveway hoping we wouldnt get in trouble for trespassing ...
B-R-A-Z-E-N c'est toi!
Vous avez eu beaucoup de chance de pouvoir entrer dans cette cour avec jardin ! Le Marais réserve beaucoup de surprises!
You know I'm proud of you.
Helpful tips for all the wannabe burglars out there. :-)
I've been following your blog for some time now because I enjoy your pics. Spent two days in Paris (not enough time) in Paris 38 years ago and have always wanted to go back but family and obligations kept me from it. Now I feel like I'm there again.
There must be hundreds of such hidden but beautiful spaces in Paris - who could object to you exploring a few?
What a lovely courtyard! And another great 'Paris story' to go with it.
Shell,
HOW could I be "naughtier than you thought?" HA
W,
All I'm stealing are some very nice photos! :)
Christine,
I'm pleased you like my photos and they bring back wonderful memories of trips past. Please visit often.
Hiker,
I"m a rebel you know. I get bolder everytime I visit.
Mad About Paris,
As in "brazen hussy?" Yikes!
Daryl,
Easier to ask forgiveness, oui?
Genie,
Team Alabama is out to discover Paris in a new way!
Brittany,
So are we partners in crime??
Henrietta,
Glad you approve of my trespassing! :)
Jenny,
they are on every single street in Paris. Too many to "crash"! :)
Harriet,
I knew you'd love my story!
Claudine,
J'aime explorer Paris!
You go, girl! And your brazen behavior definitely paid off—for us! What a lovely courtyard—and I kind of like seeing it through this gate.
Alexa,
If I can get myself back to Paris, I will go forth with much more brazen behavior for you all! :)
That ides is really interesting - what a beautiful payoff. Have you tried keyhole shots?
We'll bring you wine and cheese if they toss you in the clink for trespassing.......in the meantime good job!
All the more delightful!
Stolen passions sometimes turn out beautifully! ;)
