Sunday Church Series - Voilà

Completed in 1641, the Saint-Paul-Saint-Louis church was in serious need of some restoration work.  When we visited in January 2012, the front facade was covered.  What a nice surprise to see the work completed when we passed last month.  The stonework has been cleaned and now you can really see the marvelous details.  Of course the new choice of rouge for the doors pleased me very much indeed!

Sunday Church Series - La chambre

I have visited the Église Saint Paul- Saint Louis in the Marais, more times than I can count.  This first trip, as we were leaving,  I spotted this small office and decided to have a quick look and one photo!

Bleu in Paris VI- Volets Bleus

I have visited the Église Saint Paul - Saint Louis in the Marais many times. I always like to use the
side entrance which opens onto this charming little alley.

Paris Rouge XLIX - Les Géraniums

If you slip out the side door of the Église Saint Paul - Saint Louis in the Marais, you find yourself on this nice little walkway to the street. I usually try and exit this way. Interesting little courtyards all the way. I'd like to be invited in.  One day peut-être.

Prayers and Candles

My dear friend Steve in Paris left me a message on Facebook saying on his way home from work, he planned to stop at Notre Dame and light a candle for those whose lives have been devastated by the recent tornadoes here in Alabama. I was touched by this. I couldn't find a photo from Notre Dame, but found this from the Église Saint Paul-Saint Louis  in the Marais.  As the people of our state and the SE continue to try and get  their lives back in some order, your prayers, kind thoughts, and donations are so appreciated.

Mémoires

Today let's take a stroll down Memory Lane or as the French might say, Mémoire Chemin ( or Chemin de Mémoire?)*.  This is the view of the beautiful Église Saint Paul-Saint Louis on rue Saint Antoine in the Marais.  When I stayed in the neighborhood last June, I enjoyed this view many times as I wandered up and down the streets of the charming Marais area. I never tired of it.  In fact,  a similar photograph in sepia is one of three photographs framed over my bed.
