Stohrer, a Paris legend

Stohrer, Paris' oldest patisserie, since 1730. Nicolas Stohrer, was the pastry chef for King Louis XV. Try and top that! This beautiful shop on rue Montorgueil in the 2nd, is not to be missed!

Amical parisien

This photo was taken in November, 20008, my second trip to Paris.  I had not even started my 100 Strangers Project on my Birmingham blog. Later, I would add this blog and searched for 100 French Strangers over the years since. The "rules" are that the person must be a stranger and you must have some verbal interaction with them. For most Parisians, it was VERY minimal, but I loved meeting so many friendly French strangers.

Supersize My Macaron!

Yes, even in Paris, you can supersize even this normally petit confection.  These macarons were almost as large as our southern Moon Pie!

Paris Rouge LIII - Les Fraises

Well I have my new book, Paris Rouge finished and look what I missed! Perhaps the sequel is already in the making!  The patisserie windows in Paris are a feast for the eyes, don't you agree?

Faire la Queue...Pourquoi?

Parisians are willing to stand quietly in long lines outside of boulangeries at any time of day. Pourquoi you ask? For the best baguettes etc. on the planet.  I've done it myself and was happy to spend the time in order to be handed a buttery pain au chocolat or a warm baguette. C'est magnifique!!

Stohrer, How Do I Love Thee.....

...let me count the calories!  Since 1730 this iconic Paris patisserie has been tempting Parisians and tourists alik . Want to guess who won't gain a kilo ?  :)

Paris Rouge XXIII - arnaud Delmontel

If you've been to Paris, don't need me to describe the delicious aromas that greet you the minute you walk inside a patisserie! Aujourd'hui, arnaud Delmontel, Montmartre.

For my photography amis, I chose not to crop this one because I rather liked the way that gray, cold day made this almost a monochrome with just the shop in color. Paris en janvier! :)

For my fashion amies, an example of the "puffy Paris jackets" that I will NEVER , EVER wear!

Au Revoir Paris

A sweet treat pour toi!

Sadly tomorrow we leave Paris. What a wonderful time we've had visiting with friends and seeing everything we possibly could. We walked a million miles and loved every minute of it.

Paris, a bientot!

I've added this photo so you could see the names etc.

Stohrer - Sinfully Délicieux Since 1730

Recently our blog friend Katie (Katiefornia) has been frolicking around Paris and posting some yummy treats she's been buying on a regular basis at Stohrer's. Established in 1730 by the former pastry chef at Versailles, it has been one of Paris' most revered patisseries ever since. It is located on rue Montorgueil in the 2 ème. Katie's photographs resulted in yet another delightful Shellsherree original. Today I follow along in Katie and Shell's fine footsteps ( am I a copy chat?) and show you my photos of this beautiful shop as well. Now, it's time to get back to my book..... For the Love!

This should clear up the question as to how I managed to walk "Peter's Paris Marathon" for most of the summer and didn't waste away to nothing! ( Didn't even come close, grrrrr) Window displays like this one at Gerard Mulot, might give you a clue. Oh what's a girl to do?

Bon Appetit!

Petit déjeuner ( L-R, a DELICIOUS baguette, brie, pain au chocolat, escargot (snail shaped pastry) with chocolat)

Many of you have asked about what we've been eating. Today we visited the patisserie on the corner for the first time. We've seen patrons lined up outside waiting so we decided it must be worth checking into. Oh my.... see for yourself.

Déjeuner
( Jambon avec fromage on sesame bread, jambon avec fromage on baguette, poulet on poppy seed bread)

This is a fennel, tomato, and shallot salad Chef Melissa made to go with our spaghetti tonight. We ate the rest too fast to photograph.
( Yes, we know that spaghetti isn't French, but we have two kiddos to feed you know.)
