Cathédrale Notre Dame de Chartres I

For the next week, we will be spending time in Chartres France. This past trip in March, I made my first trip there and I couldn't imagine why I had not gone sooner. I hope you will enjoy images not only of the cathedral itself but the area around the church and the charming town itself.

When I visited there were several small gardens right in front of the cathedral (about 10' x 10'). bordered with that medieval fence made of saplings. I guess they are not there any longer. I had lunch in a restaurant just over your right shoulder. It was delicious. And I made an idiot of myself ordering but -guess what - I didn't care. It was a real 'French' experience. Where did you eat?

Is it totally cleaned inside? It was halfway done when I was there. So beautiful.

Roseann, I will show more of the restoration inside the church. It's not quite complete.
