Tromp l'oeil

The elegant Hôtel de Crillon at Place de la Concorde, has been undergoing extensive renovations. Built in 1758, it has been a luxury hotel since 1909. It closed it's doors in 2013 for the renovations and is scheduled to reopen in 2017. During this restoration process, this lovely tromp l'oeil screen was erected to hide the day to day construction from view.

I love that they do this all over Paris. I remember them doing the Police building some years back. They had pictures of all the different police and it was awesome. I've always wanted to go inside this hotel but was too chicken. Next time it's on my bucket list.

Love that concept. Makes it so much more attractive during the ugly construction!

Great idea.

It is a very good idea. They're talking about doing the same here when Centre Block on Parliament Hill goes into a rehabilitative work process starting next year.
