Art Appreciation

There are many art galleries lined up on this end of the Place des Vosges. I often wonder how they all stay open, as most people seem to be just window shopping like this gentleman.

Wow! I took a picture of this same piece of art in October. I thought it was rather Picasso-esque. Have you ever dined at Cafe Hugo on the Place des Vosges? Great little shop for gelato in that neighborhood also.

And I'll bet the rents are astronomical! Maybe the art is so expensive (i.e., marked up) that they only need to sell something every once in a while to make a living.

We must meet in Paris for some serious photo shooting. I took a picture of a lovely heart shaped piece at the same gallery in December '11! I like your composition better, though...the street sign adds so much.

But window shopping is a blast. (But of course, so is buying.) :)

They have such a mark-up on the art they sell that they don't have to sell a lot. High margins cure a lot.

I remember those galleries -- they were lovely. Out of my price range, but lovely!

The art is so expensive, they don't have to sell much to remain solvent.
