La porte - Cimetière Montparnasse

Depuis 1824, first known as Cimetière du Sud.  Mary introduced me to this Paris cemetery.  I've been back several times.  If you've not visited, put it on your list.

3 Boulevard Edgar Quinet
75014 Paris
Métro -  Raspail

The texture and the wall look very good in deed :)

Alas, «Louis» has failed to visit this - or any of the other - cemeteries in Paris...

Neat shot of the door, Virginia...

This looks like part of a door to a crypt - yes? It's interesting the aging and patina on cemetery stones/crypts is a resemblance of our lives.

Voila a shot that would delight our friend Owen, a.k.a. "Mr Toad," V. :-) Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)

I'd much prefer to visit Le Grand Colbert!

What a delicious shot with more shades of brown/ochre than an Impressionist's painting.

Isn't this great. The colors . . . the textures . . . the character.

Beautiful shot, V! I actually knew at least one person (Gainsbourg) who is buried here. Amazing.

I don't think anyone could mimic this color and finish. Gorgeous! :)

Peter, I think we did go together on my trip that Nov. with Karen! :) The little one in Montmartre by the church is the one I long to see though, but since it's only open one day a year, what are the chances of that!
