Antique lanterns are my weak point. Sparkling bijoux of the city. Paris and Florence have the best ones and so distinctive. And thank you very much, dear Virginia, for stopping by and leaving such a kind comment.
I'd have known it anyway! Soooo beautiful, V. I spent a couple of nights in one of those rooms with the half-moon window on the Palais Royal when I first got to Paris. Unfortunately, I was too young, ignorant, and jet-lagged to fully appreciate it. :~{
I am a former elementary school teacher, a full-time photographer, part-time painter, lover of all things French ( whose français is slowly improving), obsessive Paris traveler, enthusiastic art museum volunteer, grateful community volunteer, and grandmother to 5 delightful grandchildren.
I fell in love with Paris in March 2007. It was as the French say, le coup de foudre : love at first sight. As a result of that trip, my photography took another direction. Since that time I have pursued a career of sorts in photography and dreamed of returning to the City of Light. November 2008 found me strolling the streets of Paris once again. My first visit I was so overwhelmed with the incredible beauty of the city, I photographed it as a "tourist". My 2008 trip I looked at Paris with a different eye. I wanted to capture the unique, the small details, and oh yes - the people! This blog was started as a photo diary of that trip. I was thrilled to return to Paris and the French countryside in June and July of 2009, and blogged daily while there. I've returned to the city I love in June, 2010 , January 2011 and January 2012! Each time I visit, it feels more and more like home, and I discover new and interesting things with each trip. I cherish the time with my Paris friends as well as the friends that always join me there. Paris may well be a moveable feast, but I think it's best savored in person! Someone told me that once you have been to Paris, you will leave a piece of your heart. I left mine right there, but I brought home some wonderful memories. It is my pleasure to share them with you.

There's just something about lanterns that pull at my heart strings. Lovely.

I see a message of timelesness in this superb photo...
Thank you Madame!
It is so white. I wonder if it has undergone a recent cleaning. Most appealing, Virginia.
