I leave tomorrow for two weeks in Paris with my tavel amie Mary. I will not be posting here, but will on my Instagram: vjonesphoto  and Virginia Jones Photography on Facebook. When I return, I will love sharing my newest images of Paris.

Paris Rouge - Fun at the Colonnes de Buren

As soon as we get settled in our apartment, I get anxious to visit one of my favorite places, the Palais Royal. There is always so much to see and photograph. The Buren Columns are always full of kiddos playing and climbing, while adults take their photos!

Musée Carnavalet

The Musée Carnavalet, the history of Paris museum, is tucked away in the Marais. It's lovely and newly renovated. Have a look.

Mémorial des Martyrs de la Déportation

 The Deportation Memorial in Paris ( 1062) honors the 200.000 who were deported from Vichy France to Nazi Concentration Camps during World War II. 

 200,000 crystals are imbedded in these walls to symbolize the deportees.

  The memorial is located on the Seine directly behind Notre Dame Cathedral. There is no charge to enter.

Soldes

Soldes (sales) in Paris occur in January and July. Repetto's window is always my favorite. 

Kiosque des noctambules

Paris Mètro stop Palais Royal - Musée du Louvre ( Lignes 1 and 7) is probably our favorite stop. We love the elaborate steel and  colorful glass structure designed by artist Jean-Michel Othoniel,  titled "Kiosque des noctambules ( Kisok of the Night Walkers). An added plus is this stop is located at Place Colette just steps from our favorite wine stop, Café le Nemours. Win, win!

For the next few days a little mini series. In 2012, Mary and I made a day trip by train to Vaucresson to visit a blog friend. Niki drove us to nearby Marly-le-Roi to photograph. It's a charming small town just 11 miles west of Paris. I hope you'll enjoy visiting this week.

Of course I love dining with friends in Paris, the more the merrier, but lunch, glass of wine,  or a special cup of tea or chocolat chaud alone is always lovely. Ladurée on Bonaparte is a place I seem to always go back to. My favorite is rose petal ice cream and violet tea.
