that's us! Mary and I met after my first trip to Paris in 2007 on Virtual Tourist.com. Her name was Mad About Paris and mine was Paris Mumsie. It didn't take us long to connect and swap real emails. Mary lives in Cincinnati and has more trips under her belt than I, but in the meantime my "internet friend" and I have hooked up in Birmingham and Cincinnati once and in Paris 3 times now. This trip she was able to share the apartment with me for four days and we had a ball. She's got this internal compass that I was not born with and can navigate Paris like a pro and walk my legs off. I just tag along and smile. Here we are sharing one of many glasses at Place des Vosges. Miss you Mar. When's the next trip??
Travel Update!
Thank you all for your good wishes for my safe trip home. It was safe but......delayed! I had a flight cancelled in Newark and had to be rerouted to Charlotte where I missed my connection and spent the night there. I arrived in B'ham at 10:15 this morning. It's nice to be home but I do miss Paris, but you knew that!

How about next week?
Virg, I am all "verklempt" over this post - you are a treasure of a friend and I hope that we have many, many more days of pounding the pavement in the City of Light.
If it were not for you, I would not have met: The Divine Peter, Harriet, Eric (the Pope) Tenin, Daryl, JB aka Stretch, Genie, Marie, Janet, Maya, Hilary, Jen, Carol & Didier.
Life is GOOD! xx y'all
What a great story.
Ha! Oui, Didier the amorous artiste. Forgot all about him!
Welcome home, Virginia. I found my BFF on the internet, as well. Tis the time in which we live.
I forgot to ask, how did you like coming into Orly instead of CDG?
Now these two look like some happy Parisians!!! Ok...so when V orders a glass of wine, we all know she's really a B'ham Parisian!!!
What a great shot of two lucky women who are so obviously happy to be with each other—and to be where they are! I envy you both a fellow francophile to share the city with. Glad you (eventually) got home safely, V.
Starman,
Orly wasn't bad. CLoser to my apt so the taxi was only 33 euros. Hard to find the ticket counter when I left on Thurs. but I went to Information and they showed me the way. LOVED Open SKies. Now I'm spoiled rotten!
What a great photo of the two of you!
Glad you've arrived home safely, but sorry for the flight difficulties. We're looking forward to the upcoming photos.
Gosh Mary, I thought for a second that you only had a scarf on.
In case any of you forget a corkscrew...

My good friend Kim in Paris .. said that my command of Paris is unreal... I can navigate it too, actually they all say that I do. :-)
I miss Paris too... lets hope we both make it back there soon :-)
AAAAHHHHH - Madame Chieftess c'est brilliant, merci!
Bonjour, Mary!
I note, Chieftess, that your video comes from Evanston, in my old stomping grounds. How funny (and tres useful).
This photo makes me long for Paris almost as much as photos of architecture and boats along the Seine. Who was the photographer? A timer?
Petrea,
The photographer was blog reader Genie from Mobile who joined us in Paris. She's a great photographer so I have some photos to prove I was actually there! :) And I agree. The photos that really make me smile are the ones of friends, old and new that I enjoyed Paris with .
Chieftess,
Oh I could have used that video in Paris. I wrestled with a tire bourchon forever trying to remove a cork. BTW, Genie reports that she's taken one on every trip but was relieved of hers at CDG going home! Now all we need is a shoe and a tree! HA
Oh this is great shot of you both!!
Sounds like a tiring journey back home....but worth every second Oh God, PARIS!! I've been walking every step with you.
It was a pleasure the other day ! Can't believe the trip is already over... but there will be another, and another, and another, I'm sure.
And hundreds of thank you's again for giving me the Picpus clue... it is truly a surprising place.
Best wishes for the re-integration to life in Birmingham after life in Paris !
You two look so chic! Oui, oui!
"She's got this internal compass"
Yeah right. And she found her way to CDG via the RER OK too....
PS I have some REALLY GOOD photos of V if anyone's interested
So glad you are home safe and sound ...
Isn't Mary just the best. Virginia, we have to meet the next time I'm in Birmingham.
