Un peu

In January 2013,  Mary and I arrived in Paris to a lovely dusting of snow. We had a nice lunch first,  and then Peter and I headed straight to Tuileries for photos. Alas, it started raining and it made trekking through the gardens impossible. Dommage.

Noël Arrive!

La Grande Roue de Paris at Place de la Concorde is nothing less than spectacular. I took this photograph in November, 2008 and this year I passed by during the day and it appeared the lighting etc. was a bit different. Several years ago Peter Olson and I went up and although it was a drizzly day, the view of Paris from above was spectacular.

Runner Up

Yesterday was CDP Theme Day and as you know, the theme was UPSIDE DOWN. This was my runner up, a green chair at Tuileries after a shower.

Ma Journée à Paris IV - La jolie petite fille

When I decided to start this mini-series of my day in Paris, I thought it would be easy to choose the photos to share.  Now in looking at them all, I'm finding it difficult to make the choices.  Before we leave Tuileries, I must share this precious girl with you.  As I was walked up, she looked through the gate and I snapped her picture. The first one I took shows her puzzled look.  I stopped after that and smiled to her and waved.  Her sweet smile told me it was okay. Shortly after, she scampered off down the path behind her nanny. ( P.S. I adore her coat!)

I ended my stroll all around Tuilierines at the Jeu de Paume for the Garry Winogrand photography exhibit.  November is Photo Paris, and always full of  excellent exhibits. I enjoy street photography, and this was one I had on my list.

Tanning In Paris

Tanning in Paris is serious business.  Madame even brought along her small towel so she could slip off her shoes!

Tuileries From Above - Jumping Puddles

Last January as Peter and I went round and round on the grand roue at Place de la Concorde, I captured this view of Tuileries and the Louvre in the background.  It was a chilly and drizzly day as you can see from all the puddles scattered along the way.

Congratulations to Magdariana for being my 600th Follower!  Thank you all for your faithful visits to this blog!!!

Le Carrousel - Tuileries

I do believe I've identified another Paris fetish.......carrousels!  This one taken on a very gray, drizzly day on a walk through Tuileries.  I photographed it here on my first trip in 2007.

Paris From Above - "Do You Want To Go Up?"

My last day in Paris, Peter asked where I wanted to go.  I didn't miss a beat... Tuileries.  It is a place I return to again and again. Even in the winter I love it. Perhaps it's because I have such sweet memories of my first taste of Paris with Melissa and Eva right there.   This day it was yet another misty, chilly Paris  day. We strolled from the Louvre right through the gardens and then the grande roue loomed ahead. Peter asked if I wanted to go up. I said, " Oh, non, I don't have the courage!"  Then....I don't know why... as we walked right to it, I turned and said, "Yes, I will do it!" Thankfully Peter had the Euros, and up we went. I closed my eyes, and when I opened them, I saw Paris spread all below me! A breathtaking experience... my last day in Paris!

For the REAL Paris From Above by Yann Arthus-Bertand go here.  I saw this at the Marmottan-Monet in July, 2009. It is wonderful!

Le Cercle d'Amis

Maybe you see this as just a jumble of chairs. To me, it represents the delightful way that Parisians gather with friends.  Sometimes it's in the grass seated in a circle as they share a picnic lunch.  More often, I think it's in parks such as Luxembourg, the Palais Royal, or here at Tuileries.  The chairs are gathered in a circle for conversation and perhaps a glass of wine or champagne.  Paris, j'adore!
