L'artisan Ceinturier - The Look

I've been saving a small group of photos from this belt shop in the Marais since June, 2010.   I love the small specialty shops I find in Paris.  The craftsmanship is remarkable and made and displayed with such care.  Losco carries only handcrafted leather belts and buckles. Today my archive photo.  What I didn't realize was that I had piqued someone's curiosity!

I think it might be nice to keep this group of photographs together in a series,  so come back tomorrow to have a look at his workbench.

  1. Le Monsieur does not seem to happy, does he, Virginia? Great photo. Love the reflection in the shop's window. Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)

  2. The way this man is looking at you...!i can't see if he's inside the shop or in the reflection. I'd say inside of the shop. It's a great find from your files!

  3. Oh yes he is definitely giving you 'the look' Virginia! Great reflections, looking forward to seeing where he actually creates these gorgeous leather belts.

  4. Oh, that wonderfully-coiffed hair of yours doesn't fool me, V ~ you could easily be an undercover belt artisan looking to do some espionage.

  5. Great shot with the look from what I guess is "the craftsman"? The mixture of reflection with the transparency of the glass is fab.

  8. Monsieur giving me the once over was not the owner of the shop, but a shopper I think. You'd think the Parisians would be use to me snapping photos by now!

  12. Starman, I really have forgotten. Sometimes the archives shot is an afterthought, most times I forget to do it completely!

  13. Yup, he caught you for sure, V. :~} What impresses me is that these artisanal shops manage to stay in business in a big city. I guess it helps if everyone isn't shopping at Walmart!

  16. Hah! This is great, Virginia. Acting schools should show this shot to train actors to register polite disapproval.

  17. 'Losco' is the Italian for shady, seedy. Not a great name for such a nice shop...

  18. The man adds something to this picture. I'm a fan of street photography and I count this as an example.
