Oh Serge!

Well if you stay in Paris long enough you know all about Serge Gainsbourg. I guess we missed the film but maybe I can catch it on DVD later. And as you all know, my French is so great,
translation won't be a problem! :)

OH SERGE! PARDON!
I forgot this link to my previous post where I showed his home here.

Today a little Serge pour toi!

  8. I have some 45s of Serge Gainsbourg from the time before I came to the US. I did not enjoy his voice that much but I liked his songs. I also like his wife but she does not have much of a voice- but she is sweet. My favorite French singer was and is Charles Aznavour.

  10. Oh Virginia I love all these latest posts. I'm not sure I'll go and see Gainsbourg, the movie, I abhor the man even though I love his music and writing.

Thanks for your visit in Avignon and kind comments. THe blurry portrait is of a fellow blogger in Avignon. She is in her mid-sixties but very frail and weak, which shows harshly on her face and body structure. I thought of Toulouse Lautrec when taking her portrait. She was kind enough to say the result was nice.

  12. I saw the film! It's definitely worth watching!

These posters have no smoke in the version which you find in the metro stations! Censorship! :-)

  13. Concerning Vagabonde's comment: His ex-wife (he remarried), Jane Birkin (who also remarried), goes on singing, niceley, with her little voice! Their daughter Charlotte is today a remarkable film actress - who also sings!

  14. Peter,
WHAT?? No smoke? Well that's what I loved best about the whole thing. I'll bet I took 8 shots trying to get the smoke without the reflection. Hard to believe the city of Paris has suddenly stooped to censorship! WHAT is this world coming to??? HA

    Nathalie,
I think I know who you refer to. Your portrait was sensitive as well as artistic and she should be very pleased. Both that one and the day before are favorites of mine.
