Alexis

You all know Alexis by now. He has this lovely shop, just off Places des Vosges. He designs over the top wedding and evening gowns. Unlike many Parisian shop owners I've met over the years, and become friends with, Alexis more or less lets me have the run of his shop. He nods, turns his back and gets on his cell phone, smoking a mile a minute. I can accept that. Left on my own, I find things such a this lovely sketch and swatch on a chair! Merci Alexis.

L'envie bracelet

Those of you that know me well, know that I always wear two silver bracelets, sometimes more.  When I have visited Alexis in his couture shop in the Marais, I can't take my eyes off this armload he wears.  He's an interesting man.  Although he has never been rude, and always allowed me to poke around and shoot his fabulous evening gowns, he's always a bit blasé,  as if he has other things to do.  Peut-être très français?

Très chic!

I've been haunting Alexis, near Place des Vosges for years.  His evening wear creations are over the top and I never cease to be amazed at his window.  Today if you look carefully, you can see the designer himself inside.

And to make the weekend even brighter, hop  on over to my sweet Shell Sherree's blog and see her whimsical illo using one of my Paris photos as her inspiration right here

100 French Strangers - Alexis, le Couturier

French Stranger #70

Oh I've been holding onto these photographs since last June. It's time to start sharing.  Meet Alexis.  You know the name because we've window shopped here and here.  I dropped by several times, but the shop was always closed.  In June, while wandering around the Place des Vosges, I found his shop and voilà, the door was open!  Alexis is a dress designer, an "over the top" dress designer.   He was polite but more or less went about his (cell phone) business, after he agreed to let me photograph his shop. Later that week, while JB, Peter and Owen were getting to know the music store owner across the street, Mary and I slipped in to say, "Bonjour" to Alexis.  More to come.

SECOND THOUGHTS
I announced last week that I would suspend posting on the weekends, but I've decided to go for it. I still  have many to share, and Mary and I will be hopefully be returning to Paris en janvier!!
