Souvenirs de Notre Dame

I run across photographs of Notre Dame almost daily. I took this from the Left Bank, November 2014.

Sunday Church Series - Église Saint-Julien le Pauvre

Built in the 13 Century, this Melkite Greek Catholic church was originally a Catholic church. One of the city's oldest religious buildings, this church sits just across the Seine on the Left Bank from Notre Dame. Directly behind the church is the beautiful Square René Viviani. I highly recommend both if you are visiting Notre Dame.

Paris Rouge - La marionnette

This delightful little shop, just a few doors down from Le Reminet ( Rue des Grands Dégres). It was lovely afternoon meeting the shop owner and have her show us around her store. The last time I was in Paris, i noted that it appears to now be closed.

Mon préféré

Sadly the new owner of Le Reminet has painted the façade a dark red. I thought the purple was pretty chic. Regardless, the food is still so good and the best meal for your euros!

La Belle Maison

After a long flight, long haul through CDG, long ride into Paris on the RER, I finally arrived at my  friends Keri and Richard's apartment. After I caught my breath, we headed for lunch on the Left Bank. This beautiful home reminded me why I love Paris.

Taking a Break

There was a street band set up on the corner of Boulevard Saint-Germain almost every time we walked by, but they were always on a break or shutting down for the day. This is all I could get.

Sunday Church Series - Saint Severin

My advice to friends touring Paris is to look beyond Notre Dame de Paris. There are sooo many beautiful sacred spaces in Paris. Saint Severin, one of the oldest on the Left Bank, is one I love for it's beautiful twisted columns and abstract stained glass, but this visit, I found this lovely space.

Down To The Quai

Last Wednesday, as I made my way towards Tuileries, I decided to take a few minutes and walk down to the quai. The yellow leaves on the cobblestones made for a lovely stroll.

Charmantes Filles

As Meredith Mullins and I stepped outside Le Reminet after a delightful lunch, she spotted a family
that she knew.  They were visiting Paris again,  and I was the lucky one.  I was able to snap these two
delightful girls!

Sunday Church Series - Église Saint-Julien-le Pauvre

This Gothic church built in the 13th century began as a Roman Catholic church but was granted to the Eastern Catholic Melkite community in 1889.  Just across the Seine from Notre Dame de Paris, it shares the block with the lovely Square René Viviani.  This simple church, by Paris standards, would be a a nice addition to your tour of the larger chrurches and cathedrals in the city.

Sunday Church Series - Saint-Germain-des- Pres

I think this gentlemen sits there almost every day. He has a little cup for coins but rarely even looks up as I pass as he is usually reading a book.

Sunday Church Series - Le flamme

Église Saint-Germain-des-Prés considered the oldest or one of the oldest churches in Paris, should be on everyone's To See List when visiting Paris.

Réflexions- le Reminet

As you know by now, I do not dine at *pricey restaurants in Paris.  My theory is that you can get a good meal at a reasonable price almost anywhere in Paris. I prefer to save my euros for other things.  I met American photographer Meredith Mullins at le Reminet for lunch in July, 2009, and since then I've returned several times and enjoyed it each time.   Located on the Left Bank, it's close to Meredith's flat so she's a "regular". When you drop her name, the waiters light up!  I love the décor, the mirrors made me pull out my camera.

* For most, le Reminet is a very moderately priced resto. I urge you to try it.
