Table/Chair Series - Vieux

Sometimes when I download my photos from Paris I ask myself why I took a particular shot.  This is one of those. I think it would be more interesting if there were people in the photo but I loved the curtains and the etching of curtains on the glass, and the warm wood everywhere. Certainly not one of  your more hip Paris cafés with bright chairs and all. Maybe that is exactly why I took this shot.

  4. In fact it is a good question indeed. I also have pictures in my archive of which I have no idea why i took them. Some how the situation must have triggered i guess ;-0

  5. All the wood makes this look like an Alpine kind of place. I'd still love to sit down and have a coffee or a glass of wine.

  6. C'est charmant! That is why you took the photo.

Are you having any snow in Paris?

  7. Hmm, think my butt would hurt after sitting a while (maybe that's why they are there, to keep people from sitting all day)

  8. I rather like the plain Jane look of the bare wood.

  10. Regular café chairs and tables are intended for the outdoors. These look like someone decided the day was so nice you just had to sit outside and they moved the dining furniture outdoors! Charming composition!

  11. Anyone who thinks these chairs will keep people from sitting as long as they want, doesn't understand the French nor their attitude toward life.

  12. It's a cosy shot, V, even though there aren't any people sitting there. The behind-numbing chairs wouldn't be bare for long once business is open, I imagine. Bon weekend, my sweet ~ I hope Meepsie isn't moping around too much back at home.

  13. But the empty table makes it easier for me to picture myself occupying one of those chairs—avec toi, natch.
And I love the reflection, V.

  14. There is a concept in physics called potential energy. You know, a bowling ball on top of a cabinet that isn't doing anything at the moment but could smash the floor. This picture has that kind of energy.
