The summer of 2009, I spent 3 weeks in Paris with my daughter Melissa and grandchildren Eva and Davis. We were thrilled when we learned that our Birmingham friends the Wilsons, would be there as well. They had an apartment overlooking the gardens at the Palais Royal, so we joined them late one summer afternoon. The grownups had wine while the children dug in the white powdery "Paris dirt", played Follow the Leader around the Pol Bury Fountains and ran up and down the arcade. Ethan found the roses in bloom and had a fine time throwing petals in reckless abandon. La vie est belle!
I could spend hours here !
ReplyDeleteOh what a lovely little one and he has so much fun.
ReplyDeleteHis smile is contagious.
ReplyDeleteDu bonheur plein les yeux... je voudrais voir tous les visages d'enfant ainsi... la misère serait alors belle.
ReplyDeleteGros bisous
Such a honey, V!
ReplyDeleteCute! :)

This reminds me of a book I just finished reading yesterday--I think you'd enjoy it. It's called "The Last Time I Saw Paris," by Lynn Sheen (nothing to do with the 1954 movie by the same name.) It's about an American socialite in the '40s, who escapes the complications of her life by going to Paris--just as the Nazis roll in.
ReplyDeleteI thought it would be a naive, light read, but by the end I was riveted. There are some embarrassing French mistakes(!), but there are tons of descriptions of the streets of Paris, along with historical details about the Nazi occupation. Try it out!
tres charmant.
ReplyDeleteWould you look at that smile! He is adorable and having such fun just "picking the petals" and tossing them. It doesn't take much to make a child happy! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat shot!
Adorable—and proof that you're never too young to learn to stop and smell (or toss, as the case may be) the roses!
ReplyDeleteThe addition of a few kids to a group alter the dynamics completely, usually in favor of fun and silliness. Cute kid and cute photo.
ReplyDeleteKids can have fun anywhere.
ReplyDeleteIs he darling...or what?!
ReplyDeleteThanks Alison for the book suggestion!
