La Fenêtre Ouverte


If you can squeeze yourself through the throngs at Shakespeare & Company, and wind your way upstairs, you will discover some wonderful finds!  I will admit it took me three trips here to finally discover the back stairs.

    We had a Shakespeare & Co on the UWS a mere block away from where I live when it closed it was very very sad .. I always wondered if it was owned by the same people...

    Throngs or no, when I get to Paris I'm definitely going to Shakespeare & Company. My faves are stores where the books are piled on the floor or any which way, and you just get in there and dig in!

    I've had friends who've worked and stayed at the bookshop (like a hostel). It really is just a cool place with all these odd, old twists and turns.
