Minuit à Paris

I missed a golden opportunity to use this title on Wednesday, but as luck would have it, I have another night shot.  Last night I FINALLY saw Wood Allen's Midnight in Paris , so of course this made the perfect post.  Did I love it?  Absolutement!   The story line is fun but the scenes of Paris are worth the price of admission.  I told my friends that the plot was the apéritif, but the Paris footage was the entrée and the dessert! I'm feeling a bit nostalgic tonight, the movie just made me miss Paris even more.

  2. That is a truly wonderful viewpoint to have of the tower..I love it. Also, I once heard on FranceVision that the way to come to know the French is to listen to their music...so thanks again!

  10. Oh Suzi, you're already home??? I agree seeing it in Paris must have been great fun. I wonder where Paris keeps all the pieces of our hearts??? :)

Merci everyone. I think this was taken in Nov. '08 when la Tour was feeling all blue and glitzy for something special. Peter might be able to clear this one up.

  11. Oh that's such a beautiful sight Virginia, and yay, something to look forward to, I will be there in a flash Virginia, the sights of Paris alone will make it worthwhile, although the write up has said it's Woody Allen's best movie for a while. How clever is he to use Paris as a backdrop!!

  14. And what a night shot it is! Saw the movie a couple of weeks ago, and not sure I want to wait for Netflix to see it again! You can definitely tell how much Woody Allen loves Paris, can't you? And Adrien Brody absolutely nailed Dali!

  18. As you ask .... the tower was blue (+ yellow stars) for six months when France had the chairmanship of the European Union. (Any other questions!) :-)

  19. Chèr Peter, merci! I can always count on you for the answers to all things Paris. I really did think it was the EU. I knew about the stars but the bleu had me puzzled. Stay close, I'll have more questions! :)

  20. Starman, "ancient" in regards to Paris is a very long time. My photos are from 2007....on , so not so ancient n'est-ce pas? :)

  21. I just had to say "merci" for the mention of the movie. My husband and I went to see it tonight and it was absolutely perfect. I loved the Parisian scenes - and there was just enough native French spoken throughout the film that I actually felt as though I was there.

I am going to stay for two weeks in Montmartre this July - a 30 year dream come true. I am very excited and this film helped me to realize that this is actually becoming a reality.

  23. Vreni, it's not too far from Hôtel de Ville. Sells oil, vinegars etc. Ususally has a bunch of motorcycles parked outside. This is the best s hot I"ve gotten, working around them! :)

Molly, I loved the French as well. The first thing I miss when I come home from Paris, hearing the language.

  26. Midnight in Paris is magical and the Eiffel Tower is a real presence in this city. As we walk, and we walk a lot, we look forward to being able to see the hourly light show as the Tower glitters.
