Never a Dull Moment

on rue Mouffetard. The market is humming from mardi-dimanche, unlike other street markets around Paris that are only open one or two days a week.  When we stayed in an apartement near here in the summer of 2009, we shopped here daily. We loved getting to buy fresh fruits and vegetables on our way home from the Mètro every day!

A special hello to the delightful couple that I met on Saturday at Do Dah Day. They told me they read this blog every day.  They renewed their vows at the beautiful Madeleine Church in Paris a few years ago and love Paris as much as I do!

  1. Our market down the street from us, Virginia, is open only on Monday morning...and a portion of it on Saturday morning. So what happens for the people who work, right? It would be great to have a market open from Mardi-Dimanche. So colorful.

  2. I'm sure my intake of fruit and veges would increase if I was walking past this daily. Lovely vibrant scene, V.

  3. When I see photos of Rue Mouffetard Virginia - I think of the most perfect creme brulee - just across the street - I would return to Paris for just one mouthful!

  6. I have tried to make it to as many markets in Paris as possible since the atmosphere is different in each. For all the times Holly and I stayed on Rue Bernardin the Place Maubert market was our "regular" and where we made friends. Love the bright colors in your shot, V.

  8. I've been there a few times ... it's wonderful. We always buy the ingredients for a great French picnic there, and usually end up somewhere near Notre dame to eat it.
So sad I won't be going there this year!

  9. When we were in the apartment across from l'Hôtel de Sully, there was a market just steps from our entrance. We never even stopped.

  10. I love those markets, not only in Paris, but in other parts of France too. The "vide greniers" on sunday mornings are so great to visit. We buy clothes, paintings or some old "petanque balls" whatever we like.

  11. Yes, a nice way to shop! ... and the local markets on the countryside are even better! Where I live, there is a covered market, open six days a week as well! Long live the markets!

  17. just discovered your blog through Project 64. I'm excited looking through your pictures of Paris and need to have my daughter look at them. She also is a lover of all things French and our family took a trip to Paris last summer! We returned to Rue Mouffetard twice during our short stay as we loved it sooo much!! Thank you for sharing your wonderful photos!
