Ma Chère Amie Mary

Most of you already know my dear Paris amie Mary Gilbert ( Mad About Paris). We met almost 4 years ago on Virtual Tourist as  hopeless Francophiles. Our friendship grew from there. After months of emails, we finally met face to face here in Birmingham right before my second trip to Paris in November, 2008.  Since then, we've savored Paris together four times. We are, I think, wonderful travel companions.  She walks my tail off, and I just suck it up and try to carry on.  Merci Mar for dragging me all over Paris and being my very best Paris buddy. This photo I took last January.  I think it's just perfect.  I hope she thinks so !!!

  4. Hi, Mary! You and Virginia make an elegant pair. I think I'd benefit from someone walking my tail off.

  5. Delightful photos of two of my favorite Francophiles! Love the portrait of Mary with the light on her hair. She is quite the walker and I enjoyed getting to know Mary in "our city" last juin.

    Wonderful post, my friend!

  7. I love that you have posted this today, Virginia, when I have also posted about meeting bloggers in real life. I have met almost 50 in the last 6 years and think it's such a wonderful experience. (Two times I was part of a blogger meet-up and met several in one day, which is why the number is so large!) Yay for bloggers who become some of our dearest friends!

Hello Mary! It was nice to meet you last year chez Ladurée. I'm just back from four days in Paris but you were not there...

  13. A good traveling companion is worth her weight in souvenir Eiffel Towers (and I love the ones in your smaller shot!). You two are fortunate indeed to have found each other. Would love to get in on a looong walk around Paris with the two of you! And it's a wonderful portrait, V.

  20. How terrific to have a great friend to travel with. I'm lucky to have John--on our last trip to Paris I did the talking and he figured out the Metro. It was a good combination.

  21. Petrea,
When I go with ANYBODY, guess who's the "talker" and guess who figures out the Metro, the map, etc....? :)
