Spinelli et Sivel

One of the most unusual gravesite at  Cimetière de Père-Lachaise, has to be the resting place of Spinelli et Sivel. They died in a balloon accident in 1875 and are buried together in this beautiful gravesite. As a photographer, the coloration on the monument intrigued me.

Looking Heavenward

I'm not sure if she's an angel, but I think this is one of the loveliest statues I've seen at Père Lachaise or any other cemetery.

Une nouvelle vie

In all the cemeteries I've visited in Paris, there have always been these lovely porcelain flowers, wreaths and crosses on the graves.  I think as they age and darken, they become more beautiful.  In January, as we walked Père Lachaise again, I spotted this moss growing amongst the petals.

Par Ne Pas Oublier

Porcelain crosses and wreaths can be found on many graves all over Paris.  I think they are more beautiful as they weather.  The bright green moss, even in janvier, is in striking contrast.
