Statue de la Liberté
This smaller version of Liberty Enlightening the World, Lady Liberty, located on the Île aux Cygnes was erected on 4 July, 1889 four years after the original statue was given to the United States. She faces west toward the New York. It was given by the Parisian community in America to commemorate the centennial of the French Revolution. I took this photo in 2009 on 14 juilliet, Bastille Day in Paris. A night I will never forget.

Facing West
This replica of our Statue of Liberty stands on the Île aux Cygnes and faces west towards the United States. This 1/4 scale replica inaugurated on 4 July, 1889, was given by the American community in Paris to commemorate the centennial of the French Revolution. It originally faced east toward la Tour Eiffel but was turned in 1937. A plaque at the base bears the inscription IV juillet 1776 = XIV juillet, 1789.

La liberté éclairant le monde
Today as we in America celebrate Independence Day, I thought it would be fitting to share this photo of Lady Liberty ( la liberté éclairant le monde) as she stands in Luxembourg Gardens. The first bronze model of the Statue of Liberty, given by the sculptor Bartholdi. Another larger model stands on the Île aux Cygnes, near the Pont de Grenelle facing southwest towards New York Harbor.
As a little connection with the US and Paris today, may I recommend a new blog I found...
An American Mom in Paris. This is one very funny lady! Give her a visit.
