This Sunday afternoon at Luxembourg Gardens, this jeune fille was holding her own in chess. I talked with her mother and father and found out she was 8 years old and her dad, a chess instructor. He seemed pleased with how she was doing with a much older opponent.
This is lovely Virginia
ReplyDeleteLa position de la petite fille n'est pas très réglementaire. On a l'impression qu'elle s'apprête à jouer sa reine.
ReplyDeleteIt's cool that there is almost always one or more chess matches going on at this spot. You captured well the feeling of it.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe they sit outside and play chess io this weather!
ReplyDeleteGreat to see the young and the not so young having a friendly chess game. Ciao J.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo and a story to go with it! Charming!!!
ReplyDeleteA good capture!
ReplyDeleteWe have the odd park here and there that have tables like this set out, but it'll be a good while before they're used in the spring.
Here in NYC, they play in the parks in absolutely any weather. I wonder if la jeune fille's opponent was surprised by her skills. :~}
ReplyDeleteA cute photo, Virginia. I like the little girl's posture.
ReplyDeleteNice photo
