Les joueurs d'echecs

This Sunday afternoon at Luxembourg Gardens, this jeune fille was holding her own in chess.  I talked with her  mother and father and found out she was 8 years old and her dad,  a chess instructor.  He seemed pleased with how she was doing with a much older opponent.

  1. La position de la petite fille n'est pas très réglementaire. On a l'impression qu'elle s'apprête à jouer sa reine.

  2. It's cool that there is almost always one or more chess matches going on at this spot. You captured well the feeling of it.

  6. A good capture!

    We have the odd park here and there that have tables like this set out, but it'll be a good while before they're used in the spring.

  7. Here in NYC, they play in the parks in absolutely any weather. I wonder if la jeune fille's opponent was surprised by her skills. :~}
