Allow me a moment today. For you, these steps probably don't mean much. For me, many fond memories. These are the slopey, well worn stairs from our apartment on St. Roch. I've walked DOWN them many, many times. Up.... not so much. The morning light on the well worn carpet was too good to resist.
You stated "Up.... not so much." But you can't walk down if you haven't walked up...unless there is an elevator.
ReplyDeleteThe light is glorious, dear V. At least you walk down those stairs, if not up ~ it all counts!!
ReplyDeleteLovely photo. You get a great feel for the history of the building.
ReplyDeleteTrès juste....

ReplyDeleteHa! I recognized them straight away even before I read you're description. I feel lucky to have visited there too. Great image!
ReplyDeleteThis does bring back fond memories ... love this apartment and the belle concierge!
ReplyDeleteI love staircases, and this one is wonderful! But you're right about the coming down and going up though. But they're neat to look up. lol
ReplyDeleteAh! these are classy steps Virginia ... carpeted and with those little foot-rails that help us get a better grip. Funny how we grow to love the steps that lead to home. My little Parisian apartment stairs are wooden and well-worn but what a delight to climb at the end of the day. I stop halfway up and listen to the trill of the opera singer practising her notes and the music student in the side room softly fingering his keyboard. So good to be home.
