Built in the middle of the 17th century by Queen Anne of Austria, the monastery was converted into a military hospital adjoining the church after the Revolution. This beautiful Baroque dome, designed by Jacque Lemercier.
The view from our apartment windows, the summer of 2009. I photographed this church in every light. This was right after an afternoon shower.
Very atmospheric!

ReplyDeleteHow very beautiful!
ReplyDeleteNice one, Virginia. With the light on the other side of the buildings, I might have put my camera away. Good for you to see the silhouette opportunity.
ReplyDeleteThe strong black silhouette against the evening sky accentuates the majesty of this grand architecture. Fabulous image.
