L'Oisneau de Feu

L'Oisneau de Feu

I have a love /hate feeling about the Stravinsky Fountain.  Although I deep down really love the vibrant colored sculptures by Niki de Saint Phalle and her husband Jean Tinguely, the black pieces don't seem to fit there. In addition, I don't think I've ever seen the fountain when all of the sculptures were working and moving as it was designed.  That said, this evening when the Église Saint-Merri was warmly lit, it makes a striking image against this 14th century church.

  2. The fountain can say a heartfelt "Merci" to the Church behind it... Without it... Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)

    Gros bisous.

  5. It is a very colorful fountain but looks a bit out of place there. I really like your festive Christmas header! :)

  6. No thank you. It does not compute with my senses on any level. There is sooooo much beauty in Paris no need to muck it up.

  11. It certainly does make an interesting contrast. Although I guess it would contrast with everything. I haven't seen the Stravinsky Fountain yet, it's definitely on my to do list for next visit.

  12. I love the fountain because I love the work of Niki de Saint-Phalle. The fountain has its good and bad times, sometimes it looks really bad and neglected, some months later there´s water and all the figure move as they should. I´m curious to see how it´s going in two weeks.
