It's rare that I can get "rim light" to work for me. This was such a charming scene I must have taken at least 10 shots in order to get just one. Personally I think Monsieur avec son vélo just makes this one!
Today I join the World in Black and White right here!
I love, love, love the Marais! And this photo is great!
ReplyDeleteI.LOVE.THIS.PHOTO!

This picture is really like a Doisneau's one!
ReplyDeleteWonderful light and long sharp shadows.
ReplyDeleteIndeed wonderful!
ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteYou've got these contre-jour silhouettes perfectly Virginia. Love the bike and how lady's hair shining.
ReplyDeleteI know first hand how difficult to balance the contrast against the light.
Congrats on joining the World of B&W.

ReplyDeleteBlack and white suits this perfectly. Enjoyed the other site too!
ReplyDeleteOne of these days I am going to get a "real" camera and come to your class.
Thanks for the visit...Janey
Virginia...your photos are great and I'm learning so much from your techniques. Yes, I'll be blogging daily for April and May as we travel in France. So glad you enjoyed my blog. Must admit mine is more quantity than quality! But, I enjoy writing my journal for my friends, family and followers around the world. M
ReplyDeleteEvery detail here looks great!
ReplyDeleteI also have this habit of taking many shots of the same setting... But sometimes it makes it difficult to decide which one to keep and which one to discard... :)
God bless you!
Cezar
Another great photo!
ReplyDeleteThe light, the shadows, the way the curving street pavers draw your eye up and around . . . and parfait en noir et blanc!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful... i can hardly wait to go!
ReplyDeleteI love the mood of this photo!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you all. There are a number of images that are very special to me from each trip. This was a day that was a delight from beginning to end. Any day in the Marais pleases me very much. Another Paris Moment.

ReplyDeletegros bisous
What a fantastic photo with the "rim light!"
ReplyDeleteBravo, V de B!
Monsieur's velo and it's shadow certainly add to this image Virginia, but I suspect, even without them it would have still been a great B&W street scene, the light is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteVirginia..this is a beautiful 'shadow' image....there IS something very special about black and white photography....so atmospheric.
ReplyDeleteYou are very talented, Virginia.
ReplyDeleteThis shot is so stunning. Perfection.
