Unlike many of Paris' street markets, this
one on rue Mouffetard, is open almost every day. We stayed close by in 2009 and crossed this street at least twice a day going to and from the Censier-Daubenton métro. We loved shopping here and often stopped after for a glass of wine at a café to watch the shoppers and gain our strength to climb rue Claude Bernard to our flat. Eva and Davis usually got a euro each to spend at the candy vendor's. The highlight of their day!
Your blog is so cool! Great photographs. Great way to see Paris from my part of the world. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteIt all looks wonderfully healthy, dear V. I'd be treating myself to a euro of lollies as a reward.
ReplyDeleteI wish there were more outdoor markets here in NYC, especially outside of Manhattan...what a great way to plan your meals every day. :)
ReplyDeleteBest places to visit ...
ReplyDeleteJ'adore la rue Mouffetard. Le Husband and I went to a local pub on our first [blind] date. I wonder if it is still there... Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)
ReplyDeleteHaven't spent time on that street in many years but plan on going again when I'm in Paris at the end of this month. Love all the belles salades!
ReplyDeleteYou come there with the idea of buying some thing, then you find an other one, and you go back home with a basket full of delicious things! :o)
ReplyDeleteColorful open air market in Paris.
ReplyDeleteCostas
I would literally eat my way to school as I walked about 3 miles from my apartment. Ahhhh the simple joys of Paris. Paris, PLeASE, NEVER CHANGE!!!!!!!!! Anita
ReplyDeleteWonderful to buy fresh produce right zere in the heart of Paris!
ReplyDeleteBon weekend, V de B!
When I was in Paris , I spent so much time taking photo's of the
ReplyDeleteoutside food stands, and window displays of candy shops and baleries.
Only the French have that special touch for display. You brought back fond memories.
Thanks, Yvonne
How much money did you get to spend on candy?
ReplyDeleteI love rue Mouffetard. I sat at the Cafe Mouffetard while the waitress crossed the street to get bread for my croque. Quintessential Paris. Tulips. Children with satchels. Candy.
ReplyDeleteMakes me want to have salad
ReplyDelete"La Mouffe"! :-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful produce! I would love to live nearby...instead of here in suburbia :(
ReplyDeleteOn another note: That steel wall is now on display in the Guggenheim, Spain!
Very lively image, can 'smell' the atmosphere of Paris Marché!
ReplyDeleteGreetings,
karin
Wonderful memories Virginia! Why is Paris so special I wonder. Hope you have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully captured, V! I feel like I'm right there (instead of here at my desk, eating a boring lunch). So merci beaucoup, ma chère, et bon weekend!
ReplyDeleteLove the markets in France.
ReplyDeleteMouffetard one of my all time favorites also !
ReplyDeleteMarkets are always so much fun to wander with a camera in hand. Nice one, Virginia. Have a grand weekend, OK?
ReplyDeleteLove your new banner photo.
Fabulous market V ! I would shop here everyday too!
ReplyDeleteLove your new banner!!
As you know by now, this is a favorite place for me in Paris, especially on Sundays. I'd love to gather you all there with me one day.
ReplyDeleteV
Would love to go here!
xx
