Pétanque at the Jardin du Luxembourg is serious business.  Here Monsieur concentrates before the throw.

  1. Deep in thought - mind on the job -contemplating his next strategic move. You've captured Monsieur et le cigare well Virginia.

  3. I don't think I'd be able to take it seriously enough to play with le monsieur. Wonderful scene, V!

  8. I agree with Malyss. Very "Jean Gabin"... or he is a sailor who has lost his ship...Either way, great shot Virginia. Bonne journée. -- Veronique

  9. I had the same thought as Daryl. (Or maybe Winston Churchill trying not to be recognized.) If the day comes when smoking is interdit sur les boulodromes , monsieur will probably just chew on an unlit cigar while he plays. Great shot, V.

  10. Great picture! I can almost smell that cigar!
I agree with Starman...although he also looks a bit like the Skipper on Gilligan's Island...or maybe even Geo C. Scott!...Janey

  11. I love all your comments. I think I am going to go with a French Rod Steiger, although he does look like Churchill, and after I googled, him Jean Gabin as well.

Kevin, I wish I could come close to a Maier shot! Thank you.
