This replica of the the original Statue of Liberty, stands on the Île des Cygnes near Pont Grenelles in Paris. She faces towards the Atlantic Ocean and her "larger sister" in New York Harbor. Today on the 10th anniversary of 9/11, I thought this a fitting view from Paris.
Beautiful shot, V.
ReplyDeleteYes, beautiful, V. My best to you all.
ReplyDeletevery fitting indeed!
ReplyDeleteeven though my blog has no direct relation to NYC, since the whole world is thinking about it, I also thought it would not be out of place to make a reference to 9/11 today
And we are waving back to Lady Liberty's SOEUR....COU COU!!!
ReplyDeleteShe's a beautiful smaller sister indeed! Perfect for today, the 9/11 tenth anniversary!
ReplyDeleteWonderful image for today Virginia, let's hope the day can pass peacefully.
ReplyDeleteIt couldn't be more appropriate!
ReplyDeleteGod bless you!
Cezar
This New Yorker thanks you.
ReplyDeleteGood choice and beautiful photo. I remember seeing vintage pics of the Parisian place where the "big sister" was built. I was amazed when I realized they had actually built the whole thing in Paris, then taken it apart, piece by piece, shipped it across the Atlantic, and finally re-assembled Miss Liberty in New York. ReplyDeleteThis is Belgium, I think in this case Belgium is related to New York, in the way that we all are, and that's good.
ReplyDeleteThe whole world was/is affected by what happened on 9/11. We're still feeling it, and we're together in the changes we need to shape. I hope and believe those are good things.
Your post is generous and beautiful, by the way.
Sorry, I'm a little teary-eyed today.
ReplyDeleteToo bad it doesn't stand for the same things it did when it was erected.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful...
ReplyDeleteYou have done it again -- the perfect photo!
ReplyDeleteOne of my most vivid memories of that day and the post 9/11 world was the outpouring of commemoration from the people in countries all over the world...
ReplyDeleteA very fitting post Virginia...
A perfect remembrance of this sad day with this perfect photo.
ReplyDeleteA perfect hour to take this photo!
ReplyDeleteWell done, Virginia. The darkness and sepia tone add to the poignancy. (And you didn't think I knew big words like that!)
ReplyDeleteAs a native New Yorker (and would-be Parisian), I'd have to say it's absolutely fitting, V. And what a gorgeous shot!
ReplyDeletesobering thoughts and magical light...
ReplyDeleteIt couldn't be more fitting, Virginia! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteWhat an incredible and moving shot!
ReplyDeleteBeautyful tribute for this special day.
