Les cadenas de l'amour

I'm sure you've seen or heard of the locks on the bridges along the Seine by now.  Lovers lock them and toss the key in the river. Le sigh!!  Supposedly the city of Paris, with nothing better to do, cut them all off and tossed them, but you know what happened... the "power of love" prevailed!  Today one of my favorites. Parfait pour le jour de l'amour, n'est-ce pas??

Bisous pour tout le monde!

  2. I love the locks which are now back after having being removed by the city last May. It was reported that some antique locks were not touched... perhaps the removal team felt a bit of "love"

Great shot... Joyeuse St-Valentin, mon amie!

  3. Don't you just wonder who started this tradition?

  4. Yes I've heard about it! It's fascinating. I want to visit it myself one day. For now, I get great pleasure from seeing it on your blog.

    Happy Valetine's Day!

  5. Perfect for today, V—and a happy St. Valentine's to you! Harriet -- I think the tradition started in Italy, after some characters in a teen love movie (of about a decade ago) declared their love with a "lucchetto d'amore." They're on all the bridges in Florence. Must say, this is the least amateurish one I've ever seen!

  7. I saw the locks there last June -- if they removed them in May, it certainly didn't take them long to resurface. Le sigh, indeed ... I like this one because it took a lot of forethought. Happy V day, V!

  14. My husband and I attached our lock
in October. Our friends were with
us in Paris and came along. We
    all had a laugh....and yes, I threw
    the key in the Seine.

A tourist thing to do...I know!
Sometimes you just have to be a
    tourist!

    Love your blog!
